Monday, June 6
*Someone who was
“difficult to understand” com-
plained about someone else in a
black-primer vehicle driving
recklessly on a Selma parking
lot at 3:03 p.m.
*Theft of a chain saw val-
ued at $700 from a construction
site on Crest Drive was listed.
*Following a 911 hang-up
call from the 29000 block of
Hwy. 199, it was found that a
mother was arguing with her
young daughter. The mother
was described as uncooperative,
and when asked if she wanted
help said, “No, I don’t want the
cops involved.”
Tuesday, June 7
*After an audible alarm at
a Cave Junction business at
4:39 a.m., the reporting party
said to forget about it.
*Theft the night before
from a car parked at the
“Illinois Valley News” office
was logged. It appeared that
only a post office box key was
missing.
*Upon being paid $750 for
a used car in Illinois Valley, the
seller was concerned that part of
the money might be stolen, as it
consisted of approximately
$300 in coins.
*After a 911 hang-up call
from W. Lister Street at 9:06
a.m., a woman said the problem
was her phone, which she was
going to replace.
*When a man in Kerby got
up, he found that his Toyota
pickup truck and the key were
missing. He said that two peo-
ple visited him the night before.
*At 11:21 a.m. a Toyota
pickup truck was found aban-
doned at the former Kerby go-
kart track. A suspect is in mind.
*In the 24000 block of
Hwy. 199 a man picked up two
hitch-hikers; then reported that
they cleverly stole his $30 wal-
let, which had credit cards, a
driving license, and $9 cash.
*At 12:44 p.m. a stolen
wallet with “partial contents”
was found in the 23000 block
of Hwy. 199.
*Some sort of problem
involving a pole saw and a for-
mer “drug bust” house on Old
Stage Road was reported.
*“Custodial interference”
complained about in the 7000
block of Rockydale Road
turned out to be “a custody is-
sue only.”
*There was a report that a
wanted man was seen walking
toward Jubilee Park at 4:32
p.m., but he wasn’t located.
*The possibility of stolen
cars in the 3000 block of
Westside Road was checked at
the request of Grants Pass Po-
lice, but none were found.
*An alarm at Dome School
at 6:03 p.m. was canceled.
*In the 7000 block of
Takilma Road a boy was run-
ning around a house yelling and
trying to break items. The com-
plainant wanted the boy coun-
seled about his actions.
*From Holland Loop came
a call that a son keeps phoning
and threatening to kill his
brother and mother. She wants
him “trespassed.”
*Despite five “hits” from
an alarm at a Selma business at
10:36 p.m., it was determined to
not be an emergency.
*At 10:50 p.m. a large
dead dog was found inside a
vehicle in the 1000 block of
Lakeshore Drive.
*Bird feeders valued at
$30 were discovered damaged
by shotgun blasts in the 1000
block of Deer Creek Road.
Wednesday, June 8
*New bird feeders to re-
place shot-up ones were found
blasted again on Deer Creek.
*In CJ a mother said that
her daughter, 15, was “beyond
parental control” and wouldn’t
do her school work. It was de-
termined to be a school atten-
dance issue, and the complain-
ant was advised of options.
*On W. River Street a
woman with a cane was on a
driveway yelling at people. She
left without striking anyone.
*A young relative was
reported as a runway person
from rural CJ.
*If located, a man was to
be warned about entering a
house to sleep without permis-
sion on Pine Cone Drive after
the occupant goes to bed.
*Some ne’er-do-well cut a
fence at Dillon’s Nursery Gar-
den Center, and took a dolly
and half a pallet of potting soil
with a total value of $500. They
probably had parked beneath a
nearby Hwy. 199 bridge for
their evening recreation.
*The driver of a red car
from milepost 30 of Hwy. 199
to Rockydale Road was “all
over the roadway.”
*An “accidental” 911 call
was noted from the 27000
block of Hwy. 199 at 8:47 p.m.
*At 8:35 p.m. a woman on
S. Caves Avenue said she might
have a broken finger from being
hit with a tire iron.
*On S. Caves Avenue at
8:49 p.m. a man said that he
struck a woman with a tire iron
because she tried to hit him
with a 2-by-4.
Thursday, June 9
*“Unknown reason” was
listed for an alarm at I.V. Build-
ing Supply at 2:59 a.m.
*A “suspicious person”
was reported at 5:08 a.m. in the
vicinity of Hwy. 46 and S.
Junction Avenue.
*After a cell phone was
reported stolen from a student at
I.V. High School, it was lo-
cated, but no charges were filed.
*In connection with a pre-
vious incident involving a tire
iron, a welfare check was con-
ducted on S. Caves Avenue.
*Theft of a dog on Caves
Avenue was reported.
*Near I.V. Golf Course, a
vehicle with a man sleeping
inside was checked at 12:23
p.m. He was from California
and just resting.
*Assistance was rendered
to Animal Control with picking
up critters in the 1000 block of
Lakeshore Drive.
*There was a complaint
from Barlow Street that some-
one in a red car drives past a
day-care site “very fast” several
times a day.
*Community Oriented
Policing (COP) was conducted
at Illinois River “Forks” State
Park at 3:19 p.m.
*COP was conducted at
River Valley Village Mobile
Home Park on Ollis Road.
*Villainous people entered
a car on Hussey Avenue and
took $10 in change, a purse, and
gift certificates valued at $210.
*Approximately $2,500
damage involving 10 storm
windows, a clock, and a lamp at
a mobile home in the 23000
block of Hwy. 199 was logged.
*Barbara V. Meadows, 61,
was cited on a charge of viola-
tion of the speed limit in the
24000 block of Hwy. 199.
*Some guy in a gray car
was said to be driving back and
forth at an “extremely high rate
of speed” in the 900 block of
Deer Creek Road in a continu-
ing problem.
*Several llamas loose on
Patton Bar Road were corralled.
*Two tires valued at $125
each were reported slashed on
S. Kerby Avenue.
*Although a host at the
Josephine County part of Lake
Selmac radioed for assistance,
he then radioed back and said
he had the situation in hand.
Friday, June 10
*Although someone was
heard yelling for help at 10:19
a.m. near Hwy. 199 and Kerby
Mainline, no one was located.
*The possibility of a
wanted person being on Warren
Road was found unfounded.
*An unwanted man on
Pine Cone Drive was at a resi-
dence without permission.
*In the 9000 block of Illi-
nois River Road an officer
checked a campsite.
*In what was described as
a “suspicious incident,” a young
“highly uncooperative” man on
911 said that deputies needed to
get his stuff at his parent’s
house on Holland Loop “or
there is going to be a murder.”
His mother was given options.
*In a dispute about dogs on
Laurel Road, a resident said that
someone keeps phoning and
saying that she and her son will
be arrested.
*After her deceased sis-
ter’s bank account went from
$7,000 to 82-cents, a woman
asked for assistance, and was
provided options.
*Despite a report of an
explosion in the 1800 block of
Hwy. 46 at 8:46 p.m., no prob-
lem was located.
*At 8:50 p.m. a man said
that a white car full of juvenile
people, who had half-empty
whiskey bottles hanging out the
windows, passed him near
Hwy. 199 and Laurel Road.
*Lots of yelling accompa-
nied a call from a CJ bar at 9:13
p.m. after a man put his arm
through a double-pane window.
He was taken to a hospital by
American Medical Response
(AMR). A report on criminal
mischief was pending.
Saturday, June 11
*A man with a dog bite
said that he was going to shoot
the animal in the 10000 block
of Hwy. 46. He didn’t want to
provide his address because
“law enforcement picks on
him.” A deputy noted he found
the animal nonaggressive.
*Two men were drinking
behind a CJ business at 10:02
a.m. They moved on.
*Mail to a deceased person
was found at Hwy. 46 and Old
Stage Road.
*Keith G. Wood, 48, of
Folsom, Calif. suffered a bro-
ken scapula and three broken
ribs in a motorcycle crash in the
1600 block of Happy Camp
Road at 11:37 a.m.
*After running errands in
CJ the day before, a woman
couldn’t find her wallet.
*Some sort of suspicious
incident, possibly involving a
“repo man,” was reported in the
27000 block of Hwy. 199.
*After buying a used vehi-
cle, a man stopped in CJ; left
the keys in the vehicle; and
went into a business. Someone
drove off with the vehicle,
which contained a cat.
*Three written warnings
for possession of alcohol by a
minor were issued at Six Mile
Campground out Illinois River
Road. The booze was poured
out; consumption could not be
determined.
*Three dirt bikes, said to
be not street legal, were com-
plained about at E. River Street
and Laurel Road.
*At a business at the north
end of CJ, a man pushed a
woman against a wall and then
to the ground. Then they left
together.
*In Downtown CJ a man
said that a transient came to his
vehicle, outside his business,
and yelled and made obscene
gestures at him.
*A man found his missing
pickup truck in Takilma. His cat
was missing, along with ap-
proximately $60, a cell phone,
and a driving license.
*An audible alarm at
O’Brien Country Store was
activated in error.
*Possible squatters were
said to be firing guns, possibly
unsafely, in the 33000 block of
Hwy. 199.
Sunday, June 12
*A Good Samaritan re-
ported seeing a vehicle reported
stolen in Takilma, and was ad-
vised that it no longer was.
*There was a call from a
man on Old Stage Road that a
wanted man tried to burglarize
his home.
*From S. Old Stage Road
came a call from a woman re-
porting a prowler the night be-
fore. He was described as slight
with scruffy facial hair.
*A wife phoned to say that
she and her husband had an
argument and that he was upset
and driving 90 mph in the area
of Hay’s Hill on his way to the
coast. She was concerned about
their child in the car.
*Although initially called a
disturbance on Caves Avenue, a
situation was termed civil in
nature.
*First thought to be a bur-
glar, a person at Rough &
Ready Lumber Co. at 4:30
turned out to be the son of an
employee.
*Approximately $15,000
damage to a grader and 40-foot
box trailer was reported in the
27000 block of Hwy. 199.
*COP was conducted at
“Forks” State Park.
*While swimming near
Hwy. 199 and Westside Road, a
boy, 13, was choked by two
adult men “almost to the point
of him passing out,” according
to his mother.
*People were yelling at
each other, and a baseball bat
was involved on W. River
Street, when suspects in a chok-
ing incident were confronted.
*After being “beyond pa-
rental control” on Deer Creek
Road a boy, 16, calmed down.
*The possibility of an in-
toxicated driver was reported in
CJ after he tossed empty beer
bottles into bushes; then possi-
bly got more to drink; and
headed toward Kerby.
*What sounded like tran-
sients yelling at each at the “old
city park” at the end of S. Old
Stage Road was reported
shortly after 8 p.m.
*An agitated man phoned
from Hwy. 199 and Reeves
Creek Road because a girl he
knows went up the road with
someone he doesn’t know and
hadn’t returned. Then the
caller couldn’t be located.
*Subsequent to a 911
hang-up call from S. Junction
Avenue, it turned out that a
couple had an argument. They
were counseled.
*A young girl on Westside
Road, it was reported, was
phoned by a girl of similar age,
who threatened to beat her or
kill her or both.
*Deputies were advised of
an intoxicated driver heading
toward Illinois Valley from
approximately 15 miles into
California.
Monday, June 13
*Daniel Frank Stay, 40,
was arrested on S. Sawyer Ave-
nue after a complaint that he
was on someone’s porch at 4:34
a.m. He was held under two
warrants charging first-degree
forgery, and absconding in con-
nection with charges including
first-degree burglary.
*A Lister Way resident
wanted to list his pickup truck
as being stolen, although earlier
he didn’t want to.
*Extra patrol was re-
quested in the area of W. Ste-
venson Street because of con-
tinuing problems with speeders.
*A “Stop” sign at Old
Stage Road and E. River Street
was on the ground.
*Dirt bikes at Hwy. 199
and River Street were the ob-
jects of a complaint at 7:50 p.m.
*In wrecking his father’s
pickup truck, a boy, 16, appar-
ently suffered broken ribs on
Kerby Mainline. His mother,
described as “very hostile,” was
advised of civil options.
