Charges can be amended or dismissed.) * * * Monday, May 9 *In the 4700 block of Hol- land Loop, a resident wanted a woman warned about criminal trespass in Grants Pass. Tuesday, May 10 *Dopey yokels apparently slithered around during the preceding night bending street signs along Lakeshore Drive, including some into the road- way at three intersections. Jo- sephine County Public Works Dept. was advised. *A street sign had been yanked out of the ground by its roots and dumped onto the street at S. Junction Avenue and W. Watkins Street. The dopey yokels might have been involved. *In Downtown Cave Junction a motorist was warned because his vehicle didn’t have a front fender. *There was a disturbance in Takilma because of a man suffering from post-traumatic stress syndrome. He feels threatened by law enforcement personnel, and threatened to shoot officers. Mental health staff were contacted. *A bicyclist, 51, was said to have been struck by a car, but was OK at 3:49 p.m. in the 1900 block of Deer Creek Road. He was described as belligerent and did not want an investigation. *Disorderly conduct by a possibly intoxicated man with red hair was reported at a Cave Junction store. The man was said to be screaming and yell- ing at customers. He left with- out causing damage. *On McMullen Creek Road a resident reported six gunshots by people “who often drink.” The complainant was unaware that it’s legal to shoot in the unincorporated areas of the county. Thursday, May 12 *In Cave Junction, people reported a missing person, a 29-year-old woman who had phoned two days earlier from Portland, saying that she needed help, but hadn’t been heard from since. *A CJ business owner wanted to know about getting an abandoned car with a bro- ken window off his property. *Theft from a shed of a $280 chainsaw with an 18-inch bar was noted in the 10000 block of Takilma Road. *Because a boy, approxi- mately 11, was “racing up and down” W. River Street at 4:35 p.m., a citizen was concerned for his safety. The boy’s mother was advised. *In Selma a woman said that there was $510 in a drawer that diminished to $370 after her daughter’s ex-husband had been in the house. Help was provided. *Someone reported “a broken-down suspicious vehi- cle” with a strong odor in Downtown CJ. It was found that the odor was coming from a nearby dumpster with a large amount of crab shell in it. *Three gunshots were reported at 1:45 p.m. near Caves Hwy. and Laurel Road. *Assistance was rendered in rural CJ for a woman, said to be a chronic alcoholic and “extremely anti-law enforce- ment if she has been drinking.” *Because a person wanted a prescription for narcotics, which was not forthcoming, the person shoved a CJ medical person and slammed a door. *An out-of-state man was worried because he hadn’t been able to reach his brother in I.V. for about a month. They were reunited by telephone. *An I.V. business said that a customer had failed to return a video valued at $59; then a civil compromise was reached. *Gary Thomas Stanton Jr., 34, was charged with unauthor- ized use of a motor vehicle (UUMV) and driving under the influence of an intoxicant in CJ. His arrest followed a com- plaint from a woman who said that her keys were taken from a lunch counter by a man. She saw the vehicle being driven by, ran after it, and a deputy stopped the car. *The 911 Dispatch Center was contacted “accidentally” at 5:31 p.m. by a juvenile person on Beaver Meadow Road. *Possible damage to land was part of a traffic incident at Redwood Hwy. and Squaw Mt. Road involving a driver, 15, who was “doing donuts” and tried to drive away when he saw a deputy. *A man was said to be trespassing again on a Sher- wood Avenue porch. Saturday, May 14 *Barry L. Silveira, 43, was cited in CJ at 12:42 a.m. on a charge of driving uninsured. *Grace H. Polk, 29, was cited to appear on a charge of driving while suspended (DWS) at 2:43 a.m. at E. River Street and Old Stage Road. *“Possible employee er- ror” was attributed to an “ambush alarm” at 6:33 a.m. at a CJ restaurant. *Someone reported that a burglar entered a locked shed on S. Old Stage Road and took a $269 lawnmower, a $150 weed-eater, and $10 in gas. *Someone’s broken-down vehicle was blocking traffic at Redwood Hwy. and Rockydale Road temporarily at 12:05 p.m. *In the 3500 block of Illi- nois River Road, Mark Lewis Scott, 46, was issued a federal citation on a charge of reckless driving. Passenger Ricky Allen Menning, 31, was issued a federal citation charging hav- ing an open container of alco- hol in a moving vehicle. *On Illinois River Road a man with a medical marijuana card was warned about smok- ing marijuana in public. *Jeremiah S. Horn, 28, was arrested in the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy. on a charge of fourth-degree assault/ domestic. *After being refused a room rental at an I.V. motel, a man told the complainant, “I hope you die.” He then went to sit with some transients. *A highly intoxicated man was standing on the middle of Caves Hwy. at Old Stage Road and bothering people at 5:50 p.m. He could not walk, and a deputy gave him a ride home. *Larry W. Cole, 15, was taken to the Juvenile Justice Center in Grants Pass under a federal charge of possession of a controlled substance (PCS)/ marijuana, after a traffic stop on Illinois River Road. *Rusty Meyer, 22, re- ceived a federal citation on Illinois River Road on a charge of PCS/marijuana; and Jacob Taylor, 24, was issued federal citations for having an open container of alcohol, PCS/ marijuana, and failure to dis- play a front license plate. *A federal citation was issued Sage W. Falls, 21, on Illinois River Road on a charge of open container. His proba- tion officer was to be told. *In Selma a “repo man” had no problem, as the person with the car gave him the keys. *At 6:26 p.m. on Lone Mt. Road, a dirt bike rider got away from a patrol car. *At 6:38 p.m., Phillip M. Shaw, 56, was cited on a DWS charge, and driving uninsured. He was warned for expired tags and failing to halt at a “Stop” sign. His car was im- pounded. *A possibly intoxicated driver who ran someone off the road at Redwood Hwy. and Deer Creek Road got away. *Two juvenile people said they accidentally dialed 911 at 7:24 p.m. from S. Old Stage Road. They said they were looking for a second phone. *A hit-and-run report was pending after a car apparently backed at high speed into a utility pole on Finch Road near Redwood Hwy. and possibly damaged a house. The driver fled; the passenger stayed. Sunday, May 15 *Second-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree assault were reported at Seats Dam at 1:02 a.m. *Following a 3:14 a.m. report of a man lying in the middle of Redwood Hwy. just past “first bridge” on the south side of CJ, a highly intoxicated man was found. He was given a ride home. *Two campers apparently were yelling back and forth at Lake Selmac at 3:47 a.m. *Employee error caused an alarm at Dr. Joe’s Pet Hos- pital at 1:22 p.m. *UUMV was reported on W. River Street. *After her daughter, 16, “threw a couple of punches” at her, a mother in Selma didn’t want to pursue charges. It was unclear if she wanted her back in the house. *There was an anonymous report that a party for teen- agers with alcohol and drug party was planned for Onion Mt. at an unknown time. *After a jet ski driver was advised about driving too fast on Lake Selmac, he claimed that he thought the 10 mph limit wasn’t for the whole lake. *A hospital employee in Grants Pass reported a suspi- cious situation involving a man brought in from Cave Junction, as he had been stabbed ap- proximately 48 hours earlier in the “left, rear part of his chest.” Monday, May 16 *At 1:38 a.m. someone said that a woman was out to get her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend with a knife. Those involved all seemed drunk. *Someone was said to be recklessly driving a black Rab- bit from Selma in one direction or another. *Emergency personnel responded to a crash at Red- wood Hwy. and Squaw Mt. Road at 6:14 p.m. One person refused medical aid; another was thinking about it. Then the latter decided against help. *Several teen-agers who had been drinking to be some- one were belligerent to others in Jubilee Park at 6:50 p.m. *Approximately $190 in cash was reported missing from a trailer in the 5000 block of Caves Hwy. *In Selma a woman thought someone might be at her house because it seems to her that someone is trying to connect to her Internet. *A somewhat dangerous young man with a record was said to be missing from a rural Illinois Valley home.
