Sunday, May 1
*A belligerent, intoxicated
man used profane language
toward waitresses in a Cave
Junction restaurant at 8:54
a.m., and tried to break a glass
door when asked to leave. He
walked away finally.
*Following a hang-up call
from Kerby to the 911 Dis-
patch Center in Grants Pass,
“all was Code 4” with a nota-
tion that information had been
relayed to law enforcement,
although it was unknown what
information was involved.
*On Deer Creek Road a
man found a toolbox full of
tools next to a car. The toolbox
apparently had been reported
stolen by someone.
*There was a situation in
Selma involving a man who
didn’t want his brother around,
especially because he was
threatening and has a history of
drug abuse.
*Possible burglary in
Kerby proved to be otherwise,
although a couch in front of a
garage was moved.
*Burglary to an unlocked
garage was reported in the 300
block of Caves Avenue. Items
including tools and a DVD
player was said to be missing.
*A woman in a white car
with at least two passengers
was weaving and went through
a red light in Downtown CJ, a
man said at 4:52 p.m.
*Following a complaint
from a CJ bar, Duane Edward
Weaver, 41, was arrested under
a warrant charging parole vio-
lation/resisting arrest.
Monday, May 2
*A prowler with a flash-
light had removed a window
screen and propped open a
screen door with a shoe, a resi-
dent said at 1:56 a.m. in the
300 block of S. Caves Avenue.
The prowler left when the resi-
dent yelled at him.
*Possible trespassers in a
vacant structure were reported
on Krauss Lane.
*Although it was claimed
that three girls were involved in
graffiti at Jubilee Park, there
was no evidence to prove the
complaint. A 15-year-old was
released to her father; the other
two, 15 and 16, were taken to
school.
*Unlawful entry to a vehi-
cle was reported in the 300
block of S. Junction Avenue. In
addition, two doors were found
propped open at 11:47 a.m.
*Near the Laurel Road
entrance to I.V. High School at
11:47 a.m. a “suspicious per-
son” was passed out in a ditch
after first stumbling around.
*After a pursuit in the
Rockydale Road area that
ended on Fernwood Drive, the
vehicle was found and im-
pounded at 1:17 p.m.
*A man complained that
whenever he shows up at a CJ
business, the owner displays a
shotgun because there appar-
ently is a dispute about owner-
ship of property.
*In Downtown CJ a man
complained that another man
hit him with his cane approxi-
mately five times. A report on
harassment was pending.
*Theft of a front license
plate was reported in the 500
block of Lakeshore Drive.
*On W. River Street a
man said he was concerned
about the safety of a boy, about
12, who rides a motorcycle up
and down the road.
*There was concern in
Selma about a woman with
mental problems who disap-
peared at 8:37 p.m. However,
she returned later.
*Two possible drunks
walking on the middle of Lake-
shore Drive refused to move
for a fire truck at 11:08 p.m.
Tuesday, May 3
*Isreal James Hopper, 21,
was cited in Jubilee Park at
1:33 a.m. in connection with a
warrant charging failure to
appear (FTA) on a charge of
third-degree theft.
*A school bus driver saw
what looked like a shotgun that
had been run over on Ken Rose
Lane. It turned out to be a .BB
gun, and it was left by a home.
*In the 2500 block of
Waldo Road a deputy checked
for stolen vehicles, but found
only a few parts and trash.
*A Good Samaritan
turned in a wallet to the I.V.
Substation. It contained $400
cash and credit cards. A mes-
sage was left for the owner, a
Selma resident, who apparently
left it at a rest stop.
*Someone wearing dark
clothing was peering in win-
dows in the Mesa Verde Drive/
Cascade Drive area at 2 p.m.
*Subsequent to a com-
plaint that a man was passed
out at a CJ business, the
“problem resolved itself.”
Wednesday, May 4
*Calls reporting a flurry of
gunshots in the E. River Street/
N. Redwood Hwy. area were
reported at 1 a.m. One com-
plainant, who asked for extra
patrol, could be contacted, but
it was noted that a deputy
should phone first, as he has a
shotgun.
*Second-degree theft was
reported involving a Selma
woman, who said she paid a
California man for a computer,
but never received it and now
can’t contact the man.
*Criminal mischief and
trespassing were noted at a
vacant place in the 600 block
of Old Stage Road. Extra patrol
was to occur.
*A woman phoned from
Holland Loop to say that a
relative with violent, irrational
behavior caused by drugs
might be coming to her place.
She didn’t want him there.
*On Squaw Mt. Road a
deputy stood by to keep the
peace in a child custody situa-
tion. “Reason has prevailed,” it
was noted.
*Attempted theft of gaso-
line from two vehicles was
reported on N. Caves Avenue.
*A woman left her purse
at I.V. Visitor Center, then
returned to retrieve it.
*Some sort of harassment
situation was reported on Nor-
man Road.
*Michael W. Cheek, 17,
was cited on a charge of third-
degree theft at Shop Smart.
Thursday, Cinco de Mayo
*A man with a mustache
was flapping his arms and
“acting suspicious” at 8:50 a.m.
on Norman Road. He appeared
to be a strung-out transient.
*On Lone Mt. Road a
school bus driver reported that
someone in a car followed the
bus and then chased a child
down a driveway.
*There was a call about
someone who had been drink-
ing, firing a rifle on Elwood
Lane. Two officers are always
to respond to calls at the ad-
dress, it was noted.
*After an estimated
$1,000 in damage was caused
by someone scratching his car
in Downtown CJ, the owner
had a suspect in mind.
*A man in CJ claimed that
he did work for people in rural
CJ, but hasn’t been paid, and
that they keep telling him that
they’ll pay when they get a
chance. The man wants to add
a $25 late fee weekly; the peo-
ple said that if he didn’t stop
phoning him they’d complain
to several agencies.
*Assistance was rendered
on W. Lister Street for the
Dept. of Human Services in-
volving a juvenile person.
*On Fir Drive, a girl, 12,
was cited on a charge of fourth-
degree assault.
*Someone complained
that a man test drives noisy
motorcycles at about 60 mph
on Ken Rose Lane. Extra patrol
was requested during daylight.
*Numerous juvenile peo-
ple were watching a fight a
Jubilee Park at 3:50 p.m.
Megan Kathleen Clarke, 18,
and Stephanie Smith, 15, each
were cited on a charge of
fourth-degree assault. Rebecca
Christine Smith, 18, was cited
on a charge of third-degree
criminal mischief.
*Some yokel broke into a
shed at I.V. Resource Center
and stole a weed-eater.
*A silent alarm was re-
ceived from Selma Post office
at 4:40 p.m., but it apparently
was caused by an employee
leaving the office.
*A report of burglary in
the 800 block of Caves Hwy.
involving an ex-boyfriend, was
termed civil in nature.
*A couple had a tiff at a
CJ coffee stand, arguing about
their children. The man was
“getting in the woman’s face”
and the children were crying. It
was deemed civil in nature.
Friday, May 6
*Despite a noise com-
plaint at 9:32 a.m. at Redwood
Hwy. and Rockydale Road, a
deputy heard no excessive
noise in the area.
*Because an ex-husband
didn’t know that his ex-wife
had changed work locations, he
parked his vehicle nearby, and
she complained about violation
of a restraining order. He was
to be advised of the change.
*While his car was parked
at Rough & Ready Creek Park,
someone broke a window, a
man said, and took a $75 purse
with $80 cash and credit cards.
*Kevin Jeffery Brittain,
38, was cited and released on a
charge of driving under the
influence of intoxicants (DUII)
at 4:56 p.m. at Rockydale and
Waldo roads.
*After not seeing her son,
16, for a couple of days, a
mother on Dick George Road
said she’ll OK a detainer on
him, as he is violating proba-
tion by not attending school.
*Following a complaint of
fraud in Kerby, a civil agree-
ment was reached.
*An abandoned auto, de-
scribed as only a frame, was
reported on Naue Way.
*In the 1200 block of Illi-
nois River Road, residents said
that suspicious people with a
backhoe were present. It all
seemed to work out OK, except
for a report of a lost woman.
*No crime was noted after
a Kerby Mainline 911 hang-up
call involving a man who,
when contacted, said that a
man wouldn’t let him get his
things. Someone present also
said that a stick was involved,
but that wasn’t clear.
*People in a red station
wagon were said to be selling
drugs at Jubilee Park at 5:53
p.m.. The license plate resem-
bled that of a hit-and-run vehi-
cle from Grants Pass, but
wasn’t located.
*Shelly Reney Hults, 37,
cited on a charge of driving
while suspended (DWS) on
Westside Road.
Sunday, May 8
*On Schumacher Street a
woman was advised of options
after she sought information
about continuing problems
“with people being raped and
taking her out of her house.”
*At 2:15 a.m. in the center
of Downtown CJ, some nut
was “doing donuts” in the mid-
dle of Redwood Hwy.
*A boy, 14, was reported
as a runaway person in CJ at
11:55 a.m. He came home at
1:41 p.m., his mother said.
*A welfare check was
conducted on Laurel Road, and
it was found that the resident
was having phone problems.
*Extremely loud music
was reported coming from
Jubilee Park or Old Stage road
at 4:09 p.m.
*At Waldo and Sanger
Peak roads, Kevin Jeffery Brit-
tain, 38, was cited under war-
rants listing two charges of
FTA on DUII charges; he was
cited for having an open con-
tainer of alcohol in a vehicle.
Carol A. Kirkman, 56, was
cited on a DWS charge.
*Twelve miniature horses
were loose in the Caves Hwy./
Smith Sawyer Road area, it
was reported at 6:40 p.m.
*Someone’s mother was
missing in Illinois Valley, and
there was concern about her
depression about a fiancé.
*Theft of a $1,000 travel
trailer was reported in the
O’Brien area.
Monday, May 9
*“Unknown persons” tried
to steal gasoline the night be-
fore from a location in the
33000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*In Kerby, a woman ap-
parently left the area with
someone’s ex-wife, although a
relative at first thought she was
just going to do her laundry.
*Following a report that a
man had cut a home telephone
line, used an ax on a door and
was incoherent, a peace offi-
cer’s mental hold was placed
on him in O’Brien.
*A Rockydale Road resi-
dent said that he was advised
by a Portland medical facility
that his personal files had been
stolen from their computer.
*At 7:08 p.m. a boy, about
16, was trying to climb a fence
behind the CJ Post Office
while wearing roller-skates. He
said he was dared to do it. It
was termed not a criminal mat-
ter, and the complainant was
advised to tell the boy of her
concerns, but let him be.
*A mother and her son
had a disturbance on N. Junc-
tion Avenue at 10:28 p.m.
Tuesday, May 10
*Following a 911 hang-up
call from Sherwood Avenue, a
resident said that the phone fell
off a desk.
*Extensive damage by
former tenants to a house in the
10000 block of Takilma Road
was reported. The complainant
said that built-in items were
taken from walls, knives dam-
aged drywall; there was water
damage, and garbage and other
items were left on the yard.
*Possible sex offenses by
a Cave Junction man were
reported by people living in
another state.
*Theft of gasoline from a
vehicle was reported in the
30000 block of Redwood Hwy.
*Continual trespassing in
the 8000 block of Takilma
Road was complained about.
*At the I.V. Substation,
Mitchell Camacho, 23, turned
himself in under a warrant
from Klamath County.
*Following a CJ com-
plaint that someone sold bulbs
to start a business, but never
delivered the bulbs after col-
lecting the money, it was deter-
mined to be a civil matter.
*Approximately 10 tran-
sients were said to be hanging
around a vacant house on
Caves Avenue.
*Despite a woman
screaming inside a van in CJ,
all appeared OK.
*Today and during other
days in this report, deputies
conducted Community Ori-
ented Policing at various loca-
tions, and warned a number of
motorists about infractions.
