Arrangements are under Schipers Tarkey, Will (last name unknown), Laura Vok- lok, and Ria Black, all of Am- sterdam; and nine grandchil- dren. He also leaves behind his daughter-in-law, Tammy Lee Blind. He was preceded in death by his parents; a father-in-law; and a mother-in-law. McMorrine, 94, formerly of Cave Junction, died Sunday, April 10, 2005 at her daughter’s home in Grants Pass. No service will be held. Southern Oregon Cremation Services is in charge of ar- rangements. Mrs. McMorrine was born June 6, 1910 in South Charleston, Ohio. In 1927 at Petersburg, Colo. she married William S. McMorrine. In Lakewood, Colo. She owned and operated an appliance store and a photography busi- ness. In 1948 she moved to Trinidad, Calif. from Colo- rado. She worked as a real estate broker in and around Arcata, Calif. In 1972 she moved to Cave Junction, and to Grants Pass in 1979. She always was active in church activities wherever she lived. While in Cave Junction, a women’s Bible study met at her home to enjoy compan- ionship and views of the pond, river, and creek there. She especially enjoyed her family, gardening and handwork, including crochet- ing, tatting, and quilting. Surviving are four chil- dren, William McMorrine Jr., of Kerby; Carol Combs, of Cave Junction; David McMorrine, of The Philip- pines; and Marianne Tappen- beck, of Salyer, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great- grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren. Mr. Blind was born on Oct. 20, 1935 in Amsterdam. He relocated in 1955 to Austra- lia, where he met his wife, Atty (Dykstra) Blind, who survives. Seven years later, they moved to Holland; then to Artesia, Calif. Mr. Blind worked for General Motors Corp. in Los Angeles for 14 years. They moved from Los Angeles in 1974 to Cave Junc- tion, where they started the A&B Sporting Goods Store, later renaming it A&B Family Clothing. The couple owned and operated A&B until his retirement in September 2004. Mr. Blind had served as president of the Illinois Valley Chamber of Commerce, and chairman of the city of Cave Junction Planning Commis- sion. His hobbies were fishing, camping, and photography. At his direction, his eyes were donated to Lions Club Interna- tional Sight & Hearing Pro- gram. Besides his wife, Atty, of Cave Junction; Mr. Blind is survived by a son, Robert Wil- lem Blind, of Cave Junction; a daughter, Diana Mary Ann Blind; four sisters, Maya Former longtime Illinois Valley resident Marie Frances Gibbons, 92, went to be with the Lord on April 7, 2005 in Santa Rosa, Calif. “Marie” was born on Dec. 10, 1912 in Grand Haven, Mich. to immigrant parents Fred and Josephine Krumpeck. She was the youngest and last survivor of six children. In fall 1937 she was vaca- tioning from her office job in Chicago, Ill. visiting her sister, who had a new baby, in Pomona, Calif., where she met Francis James Gibbons. Fol- lowing a romance and engage- ment, both by letters, they were married in July 1939 in Ben- sonville, Ill. They returned to Pomona, where he was employed. Later they opened a small grocery store/gas station there. In November 1943 they moved with their two children, while she was pregnant with their third child, to Cave Junc- tion to the Bud Doney Ranch. More recently, the home por- tion of their many surrounding acres is owned by Jerry Miller on Ken Rose Lane. In 1950 Mr. and Mrs. Gib- bons opened a grocery store, Gibbons Market, 2.5 miles south of Downtown Cave Junction. They eventually ex- panded it to its final location (current site of Illinois Valley Fire District administrative headquarters) in 1953 on a piece of the farm property. Other property was sold through the years. Mr. Gibbons died in 1975. “Marie” sold the market in 1977 and moved into Cave Junction. The store closed in 1979. “Marie and Frank” were a real team, whether in farming, raising their family, running their business, or in efforts to help and encourage others and better the community. She had been involved in PTA work, Boy Scouts, and Democratic Club. She served as I.V. Golf Course Associa- tion treasurer; Community Bible Church assistant treas- urer, Awana helper, Lorna Byrne Middle School tutor, I.V. Blood Bank campaign caller, and other volunteer tasks to aid the efforts of groups she felt were doing important work. She also helped with fund-raising efforts for the Cave Junction Swim- ming Pool, and I.V. Senior Center. Due to Alzheimer’s Dis- ease, “Marie” moved to Santa Rosa in May 1999 with her daughter Arlene’s family, and later to a care facility. Her ashes will be placed in Laurel Cemetery in Cave Junc- tion near her husband; and a grandson, Bradley Rosenberg. There will be no service, but on April 9 her family gath- ered in Santa Rosa. Present were a daughter, Myrna Olson; Mrs. Olson’s daughters, Sharon Grant and Lynn Olson, from Camino, Calif.; daughter Arlene Schie- ber and husband, David, and their sons, Patrick and Nicho- las, of Santa Rosa; and son Gerald Gibbons, and wife, MiHyun, of Lancaster, Pa. Unable to attend were Myrna Olson’s husband, Bob; Mrs. Grant’s husband, Ed; and Gerald’s adopted daughter, Rae Lee Morgan, and family from North Carolina. “Marie” also leaves be- hind two sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and many treasured nieces and nephews.
