Saturday, Feb. 20 *Gunshots reported near a woman’s home on Caves Hwy. woke her child at 1:30 a.m. *Served with eviction papers, a tenant on Caves Hwy. began brandishing a pellet gun in an intimidating manner, the complainant said. *A soon-to-be ex-tenant was “doing doughnuts” and peeling out in a driveway, said a man at Kerby Trailer Park around 3 p.m. *On Schumacher Street a woman said that neighbor boys had been throwing rocks at cars and had put a dead squirrel in front of her gate. Sunday, Feb. 21 *Items valued at $400, including a purse and cell- phone, were reportedly taken from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 100 block of N. Redwood Hwy. *Further troubles were reported with a beer-drinking transient who was approaching customers in a restaurant park- ing lot and asking for money. *A convenience-store owner accidentally hit a panic alarm just before 10 p.m. Monday, Feb. 22 *A stolen pickup truck was discovered on Finch Road. *“Stop” and other caution- ary signs were pulled down on Holland Loop near Humming- bird Road. *Food and beverages were taken from a refrigerator on a porch in the 2000 block of Caves Hwy. Save a life. *Plate glass windows at McGrew’s Lounge were bro- ken with rocks, a woman said. *Russell Ballard, 51, was cited to appear on charges of driving while suspended and no liability insurance. *Two drivers were warned about defective equipment in Downtown Cave Junction around 8:30 p.m. *Angela Davel Herde, 25, was cited on a charge of no liability insurance when stopped at the north end of Cave Junction. *On Lone Mountain Road a woman said that her landlord continually comes by without prior notice, and she wanted him warned about his conduct. *Three gunshots were heard on Iron Way near 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23 *Two young men were beating on each other near Ev- ergreen Federal Bank, an eye- witness said. *A stolen Caterpillar backhoe/loader was recovered in Selma. *While apparently trying to repossess wheels from a young man’s car, several other subjects jumped the reposses- sor and took the keys. When contacted, all parties were ad- vised of civil options. *A 24-foot orange ladder, Stihl chainsaw and five-gallon can of gas were taken from a pickup truck on Burch Drive, a ion Mountain area. The agitated caller said that he “beat the (man’s) head into the asphalt and took the weapon from him.” *Two men with gray beards and baseball caps were seen opening mailboxes on N. Old Stage Road at 8:44 p.m., an eyewitness said. *For the last four nights, a transient has been sleeping in the back of a pickup truck on S. Junction Avenue, a caller complained. *Half in the ditch and spray painted, a stolen vehicle was recovered on Thompson Creek Road. *On Addison Lane, a woman said that her neighbor threatened to shoot her son’s dog and her, and then the man turned a hose on her.
