To properly care for your cuticles, twice a day, apply
Vitamin E to the cuticle and around the nail bed; massage
it in.
You can use straight Vitamin E oil from a bottle, or
pierce a Vitamin E capsule. Olive oil can also be used as
detailed above. You could also soak your fingertips in a
warm bowl of milk. This is not only good for the cuticles,
but great for the nails.
The main thing to remember is: Keep your fingers and
hands moisturized. Cutting the cuticles is not a good idea,
and pushing them back with an orange stick after you have
soaked your hands in warm water is the best way to pre-
vent ragged cuticles.

COUNTY/CITY LEADERS - The Josephine County
Board of Commissioners were in the county building
in Cave Junction Monday night, Jan. 24 to meet infor-
mally with residents. Commissioners are (from left)
Vice Chairman Dwight Ellis, Chairman Jim Riddle, and
Commissioner Jim Raffenburg. After their one-hour
meeting with several residents, the commissioners
30 years experience in water, sewer & pipeline
construction, brush clearing, septic installation
& utility line trenching
attended the first part of the Cave Junction City Coun-
cil meeting in city hall. They introduced themselves to
the council including (top) Mayor Tony Paulson and
Vice Mayor Dan Fiske. The commissioners extended
greetings and said they want to work cooperatively
with the city. A story about the board’s Monday meet-
ing will be in next week’s issue.

assault after a disturbance
on Ollis Road at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 12
*Jesse James Mulhall,
37, was cited on a charge of
driving under the influence
of an intoxicant (DUII) on
Redwood Hwy. at Glendon
Road at quarter to 1 a.m. He
was also warned for driving
the wrong way in a lane of
traffic and failure to change
the address on his ID card.
*A report charging bur-
glary, criminal mischief, and
theft, all in the second-
degree, was filed after
someone broke into Isaac's
Discount Grocery, taking
numerous items and leaving
a trail of goods back to a
Jubilee Park transient camp.
*On Shadowbrook
Drive a man was trying to
get into his mother’s house,
and she didn’t want him to
live there anymore.
*John Travis Notting-
ham, 45, was arrested on
two charges each of first-
degree criminal mischief
and trespassing after causing
disturbances at CJ Video
Mart and CJ 76 gas station.
*Minus tires, battery
and license plate, a stolen
vehicle was recovered on
Rough & Ready Creek
Road.
*Joshua David Scott,
24, was arrested in Down-
town Cave Junction under
warrants charging failure to
appear (FTA) on charges of
reckless driving, DUII, pos-
session of a controlled sub-
stance, and theft. He also
was charged with first-
degree theft and second-
degree burglary, and lodged
in Josephine County Jail.
*Roger K. Cusimano,
41, was cited on a charge of
driving while suspended
(DWS) on Rockydale Road
around 2 p.m. He was also
warned about wearing a
helmet when required and
operating an off-road vehi-
cle on a public highway.
*Clocked at 72 mph in a
55 mph zone, Michael A.
Shoaf, 37, was cited on a
charge of speeding on Red-
wood Hwy. at Krauss Lane
at 6 p.m.
*Left running “for a
minute or two” to defrost, a
van was stolen from near CJ
Select Market, the owner
said. A witness provided
information about who may
have taken it.

*Someone’s been using
the dumpster at Illinois
River “Forks” State Park for
household trash, it was re-
ported.
*On Caves Hwy. a
woman reported having
been assaulted by another
woman earlier in the day.
*A young man said that
his friend had been assaulted
by a 15-year-old boy at Ju-
bilee Park.
*Stolen at 6:26 p.m.
from an address on Ollis
Road, a green van collided
with a house minutes later
on W. Watkins Street. Two
teen-aged boys fled.
*Ryan Phillip Borth, 20,
was cited on charges of a
minor in possession of alco-
hol and second-degree
criminal trespass after at-
tempting to enter a Shadow-
brook Drive residence.
Friday, Jan. 14
*Teaching her 3-year-
old daughter what to do in
case of an emergency, a
mother on Jackadel Drive
dialed 911 and hung up.
*Phillip John Wright,
25, was cited on charges of
theft following a shoplifting
incident at Shop Smart Food
Warehouse. He was trans-
ported to county jail, where
he was lodged on a proba-
tion detainer.
*Two men were ar-
rested on Pinewood Way:
Gary Wayne Rankin, 41,
was arrested on several
charges of failure to comply
with conditions of parole,
and two warrants charging
FTA on charges of posses-
sion of a controlled sub-
stance (PCS) and felon in
possession of a firearm.
Donald David Bernald, 44,
was arrested on five war-
rants charging FTA on
charges of PCS, DWS, bur-
glary, assault and criminal
mischief.

*Following a verbal
disturbance on Westside
Road, the parties agreed to
separate for the night.
*When he allowed
someone to drive his vehicle
