Ehrman gets
council seat
By one write-in vote,
Russell Ehrman is the win-
ner for Position 4 on the
Cave Junction City Council.
Results of the Nov. 2
write-in candidates were
announced last week by the
Josephine County Clerk’s
Office. Ehrman received
seven votes; his closest
“opponent” was Cassandra
Schreiber, who got six.
Ehrman replaces Sandi
Lund, who resigned several
weeks ago. She and her hus-
band, “T,” will leave Cave
Junction in January after his
retirement from Three Riv-
ers School District. He is
music director at Illinois
Valley High and Lorna
Byrne Middle schools. They
plan to live in Gold Beach.
At the beginning of next
year, Margaret Miller, who
won the Nov. 2 election for
Position 2, held by Tony
Paulson, will vacate the Po-
sition 4 seat, which she’s
been holding during the in-
terim.
Paulson was elected
mayor, and will take that
seat in the new year.
Cohabitation
has multiple
problems
It takes about 1,000
hours to really get to know
someone; love at first sight
is a fallacy.
False intimacy is lust,
and in essence practicing
divorce. A girl has to con-
vince a guy that she is his
friend before she can con-
vince him of anything else.
Here are some facts
about cohabitation:
*Married families have
approximately 20 percent
more income.
*Aggression occurs
much more often in cohabi-
tating households.
*Identities change when
people become sexually
active -- men and women
experience more depression
when living together.
*Adultery is a leading
cause of cohabitation break-
ups.
*Some 40 percent of
live-ins never marry.
*Of the 60 percent who
do marry, the divorce rate is
50-100 percent higher than
for couples who did not live
together prior to marriage.
*Some 5 percent of
children born to cohabitators
will see their parents split up
before age 16.
*Serious child abuse
occurs most often in cohabi-
tating households.
