*Out Illinois River
Road at Six-Mile Camp-
ground, William R. Dobie,
24, was cited on charges of
DWS and no insurance,
and warned for expired
insurance and driving too
fast for conditions. His
passenger was warnted
about possessing less than
an ounce of marijuana.
*A skinny, intoxicated
man was harassing her and
attacked her outside a store
in CJ, a woman said. He
also threatened her daugh-
ter, the woman said.
*At Six-Mile Camp-
ground, a driver was
warned about driving un-
der the influence of intoxi-
cants (DUII).
*One gunshot near the
former James Boys Home
on Holland Loop was re-
ported at 6:25 p.m.
*The possibility of an
intoxicated driver was
checked in Downtown CJ.
*People on Lakeshore
Drive were provided infor-
mation and references after
some sort of emotional
upset at 9:54 p.m.
*In Selma at 10:53
p.m. a woman said she
received a phone call from
a distraught woman, who
eventually agreed to a vol-
untary mental evaluation.
Monday, Sept. 27
*In Central Point, a
17-year-old boy, listed as a
runaway from CJ, was
taken into custody.
*Theft of a prescrip-
tion drug and personal pa-
pers was reported by a
Junction Avenue resident.
*Two separate thefts
were reported on Sixth
Street in Kerby involing a
$150 drill set, 5 gallons of
gasoline in a can, and a
pack of cigarettes.
*On Lone Mountain
Road a resident was suspi-
cious about a man in a
beat-up vehicle. He said he
was going to cut some
trees, and it turned out he’s
with a bona fide group.
*Michael J. Hood, 18,
was arrested under a GP
warrant charging failure to
appear (FTA) on a charge

found for a 911 hang-up
call from Westside Road.
*Three marijuana
plants, each 7 feet tall,
were spotted during aerial
surveillance in the Lone
Mountain Road area. They
were cut down.
*Michael Martinho,
23, was arrested on Wal-
ters Drive under a warrant
charging absconding on a
charge of PCS.
*There was a com-
plaint from a man who was
paid $60 to drive a woman
from GP to Takilma, but
the fare came out $25
higher, and no one would
pay him for the extra.
*People had problems
in Selma, including a situa-
tion in which a woman
jumped in the back of an-
other woman’s pickup
truck. Family problems
seemed to be involved.
*Catherine
M.
Ragsdale, 40, was arrested
on Deer Creek Road on
charges of restraining or-
der violation, reckless en-
dangerment, reckless driv-
ing, and interfering with a
police office and resisting
arrest. She was jailed.
Tuesday, Sept. 28
*People cussing and
playing basketball caused a
call about disorderly con-
duct at 15 past midnight on
S. Junction Avenue.
*Burglary and ran-
sacking were reported in
the 6000 block of Rocky-
dale Road.
*No injuries were re-
ported in a collision in-
volving a Laidlaw school
bus with children aboard,
and another vehicle at
Redwood Hwy. and E.
River Street at 2:21 p.m.
*Despite an alarm on
Finch Road, the building
checked out as secure.
*Someone caused a
disturbance on W. River
Street by throwing bricks
and breaking windows. He
was angry become his bi-
cycle had been moved.
*Continued vandalism
across from Kerbyville
Museum prompted a re-
quest for extra patrol.
*On Lakeshore Drive
a man walking alongside a
slowly driven car was
screaming obscenities. The
walker had a fight with his
spouse, and the driver was
going to give him a ride.
Wednesday, Sept. 29
*Theft of license
plates from a parked vehi-
cle was reported on S.
Hussey Avenue.
*It seemed that a
woman was injured in a
motor vehicle crash in the
vicinity of Caves Hwy. and
Junction Avenue.
*A student said that
while standing on Lake-
shore Drive a car swerved
toward her. She said it’s
likely related to a continu-
ing dispute between two
families.
*Marijuana was taken
from a student at I.V. High
School. No charges were
to be pursued.
*After a boy with
spiked hair jumped a fence
on W. River Street, a
neighbor was concerned,
but all checked OK.
*No one knew why an
alarm sounded at the I.V.
Fire District administrative
office, the former location
of Fire Mt. Gems.
*Theft of mail and
telephonic harassment by a
former son-in-law were
reported in Selma.
*A boy, 15, was re-
ported as a runaway person
from N. Old Stage Road.
*There was a civil
problem on E. River Street
in connection with a house
being sold and a fence be-
ing erected.
*Another person in
connection with the item
above reported harassment.
*In O’Bri en, a
woman’s son was removed
from a dwelling because
he wouldn’t leave when
asked. He was warned
about criminal trespass.
*Wood being cut on
Waldo Road by a new
property owner was within
the contract, the man said,
after a complaint by the
former owner.
*A charge of reckless
endangerment was pending
on E. River Street after
property buyers said the
seller ran down a fence and
nearly hit one of them.
Thursday, Sept. 30
*In Kerby a landlord
said that evicted tenants
“peeled out” in front of her
residence.
*Bodily harm was
threatened in Kerby by a
former tenant, a man said.
*Approximately 15
teen-agers in three cars
took off from Jubilee Park
at 3:48 p.m. after “jeering
to fight” and “punching.”
*Possibly high-
powered gunshots that
have “been happening for
over a year” were reported
in the 9000 block of
Takilma Road.
*When a couple went
to the home they just
bought in rural CJ, the pre-
vious owner’s son was
there, and a bunch of peo-
ple were in the woods. The
couple was to return and
seek help if needed.
*A man claimed that a
traffic citation was his
brother’s and not his.
*Someone broke into a
car and took CDs valued at
$3,000; plus the wind-
shield will cost $100 to
replace, it was reported.
*In CJ a man and
woman were having a dis-
turbance outside the I.V.
Substation. They were as-
sisted in exchanging car
sets between two vehicles,
and went separate ways.
*On Waldo Road a
man appeared to have
struck a fence with his
pickup truck. A phone box
was damaged.
*A complainant would
not advise what she
wanted to show a deputy
because, she said,
“sometimes phone conver-
sations come across her
TV set and who knows
who may be listening.”
*On S. Old Stage
Road a woman said that
her rose bushes had been
knocked down, and the
lock removed from a gate.
*Theft of $300 worth
of tools from a vehicle was
reported on S. Old Stage.
*There was a call from
a woman on Schumacher
Street saying that she
couldn't breathe, and that
the person who strangled
her had left. She refused
medical attention, and
would not identify the
strangler she reported.
*Drug paraphernalia
was found in a dumpster at
“Forks” State Park, and a
complainant wanted the
person contacted whose
name was found.
Friday, Oct. 1
*A prowler reported in
the 24000 block of Red-
wood Hwy. at 4:17 a.m.
turned out to be a faulty
light switch.
*A man in Selma
wanted his gun, but his
wife wouldn’t tell him
where it was.
*Parents went to Lorna
Byrne Middle School to
pick up their son, who was
causing a disturbance.
*Because a tenant had
a boyfriend and two dogs
with her, and she’s sup-
posed to live alone, a land-
lord complained on N. Old
Stage Road.
*Possible fraud involv-
ing stolen checks was re-
ported in a CJ store.
*Someone said that a
man broke a woman’s eye-
glasses and everything in
the car in Downtown CJ,
but it turned out to be
“verbal in nature.”
*At 6:07 p.m. Zacha-
riah Wertz, 18, went to the
American Medical Re-
sponse station in CJ and
said he’d been hit in the
back of the head with a
lead pipe. Subsequently, “a
large amount of marijuana,
cash and personal belong-
ings” were taken from him.
A report for robbery was
pending.
