GP suspect,
16, arrested
for murder
A 16-year-old Grants
Pass youth is the suspect in
the stabbing death of
Wesley Jack McKellar, 21.
McKellar, of Grants
Pass, was found dead in a
residential front yard on
Monday, July 19 at 819
N.W. D St., said Grants
Pass Dept. of Public Safety
(GPDPS).
According to GPDPS,
a disturbance was heard
outside the residence prior
to finding McKellar, who
lived at 402 N.W. C St.
When those inside the
D Street residence stepped
outside to investigate, they
told officers that they dis-
covered McKellar lying on
the ground in the front
yard with a stab wound to
his chest. They called 911
and attempted to resusci-
tate McKellar with CPR.
Upon arrival of law
enforcement and American
Medical Response medics,
McKellar was determined
to be deceased, said
GPDPS. Detectives and
additional law personnel
were called to the scene to
assist the investigation.
At 6:57 a.m., a sus-
pect, Armando Orosco
Hernandez, 16, was lo-
cated hiding nearby and
taken into custody without
incident.
He was charged with
murder and lodged at the
Juvenile Justice Center,
said GPDPS.

Bear Camp Road
(Forest Road 23), linking
Galice with Agness, is
scheduled to open on Aug.
7, said U.S. Forest Service.
Additional work items
and more engineering have
caused a delay to the open-
ing originally scheduled
for July 20.
There will be no de-
tour on the Bear Camp
Road, but the public
should use caution when
traveling with mixed-use
traffic. Large trucks and
recreation trailers may be

WEEKEND EVENTS IN VALLEY - Among events last
weekend were the ‘I.V. Extreme’ program in Cave
Junction (top photo), which included performances by
‘Heart of David’ with songs and dance of praise and
worship to God. Many games and other activities were
parts of the event, sponsored by Cross Quest Expedi-
tions. Bottom photo shows some of the radio-
controlled model aircraft at the annual Float Fly at
Lake Selmac sponsored by Rogue Valley Flyers. That
event was held on Saturday and Sunday, July 17-18,
and attracted hundreds of visitors and participants
from as far away as Roseburg, and Fort Bragg, Calif.
