Yearicks, son of Richard
and Dusty Bouchard of
Selma, recently returned
from his fifth tour of duty
in the Persian Gulf.
He has seen duty dur-
ing Operation Desert
Shield, Desert Storm,
twice during Operation
Deny Flight, and lastly
during Enduring Freedom.
Yearicks is an interme-
diate level technician,
quality assurance represen-
tative, micro/miniature
repair technician and pro-
gram manager. He is a

Chula Vista in the southern
part of San Diego County
with his wife, Gloria, and
their two sons, Isaak and
Hamilton Allen.

Today we mourn the
passing of a beloved and
old friend, with us for
many years, by the name
of Common Sense.
He’ll be remembered
for such things as knowing
to come in out of the rain;
that the early bird gets the
work; and that life isn’t
always fair.
He lived by simple
rules (don’t spend more
than you earn); and sound
parenting strategies (adults
are in charge, not kids).
His health began to
deteriorate when bureau-
cratic red tape and over-
bearing regulations began
den from informing par-
ents when a pregnant stu-
dent wanted to have an
abortion, Common Sense
lost the will to live.
He finally gave up the
ghost after a woman, not
realizing that steaming
coffee is hot, was awarded
a huge payment for spill-
ing it in her lap.
Common Sense was
preceded in death by his
parents: Truth and Respon-
sibility; his children, Dis-
cretion and Trust; and his
wife, Reason.

rimanding unruly students.
Common Sense’s con-
dition worsened as crimi-
nals began to receive better
treatment and more rights
than their victims.
When schools were
required to get parental
consent to administer aspi-
rin to a student, while the
same schools were forbid-
Anderson appointed undersheriff for JoCo
Lt. Brian Anderson of
the Josephine County
Sheriff’s Office began his
position as undersheriff on
Thursday, July 1 to assist
Sheriff Dave Daniel.
During his 2002 re-
election campaign, Daniel
announced he would re-
establish the position.
The sheriff’s office
hasn’t had an undersheriff
since 1998. When Daniel
was elected sheriff, he felt
he could take care of daily
operations and public rela-
tions without the aid of an
undersheriff. According to
Anderson, Daniel decided
he needed more time to
deal with political and
community issues.
Anderson, with 19
years service, will be in
charge of daily operations.
He has worked as a police
dog handler for seven
years, and was a corporal
four years before being
promoted to sergeant in
1997. Later in ‘97, he was
promoted to lieutenant.
“It’s going to be a
challenge,” Anderson said.
“(But) I’ve worked in all
facets of the sheriff’s of-
