St. Patrick of the Forest Catholic Church Next Sunday we will celebrate Pentecost with readings from Acts and John, which focus on the Holy Spirit. In Acts, we will read about tongues of fire com- ing to each of the apostles. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit en- abled them to proclaim. In John’s gospel, we will read a similar story where Jesus breathed on the apostles and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are re- tained.” Wayne V. Vineyard Cave Junction resident Wayne V. Vineyard, 75, died Sunday, May 23 at his home. A service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 29 at Living Word Fellow- ship, 139 S.
