was part of events dur-

side healing ceremony,
and various displays, as
well as refreshments.
The event was attended
by approximately 35 men
and women.

After having been taught
a lesson on the devil,
two young boys were
walking home from Sun-
day school. One said to
the other, “What do you
think about this devil
business?” His compan-
ion thought about it for a
minute and replied, “You
know how Santa Claus
turned out. So it’s
probably just our dad.”

‘Prayer for Nation’ observance
in CJ for all churches Sunday
In keeping with the
Thursday, May 6 National
Day of Prayer, an Illinois
Valley all-church gather-
ing will be devoted to
prayer for the nation.
It will be held on Sun-
day, May 2 beginning at 6
p.m. at Community Bible
Church on Caves Avenue.
The announcement
was made by Pastor Les
and Sherry Knapp of
Come Aside Ministries.
There will be a prayer
agenda with seven catego-
ries. There will be songs
and Scripture reading
“appropriate for the occa-
sion.” Several pastors will
lead in prayer.
Prayer categories in-
clude good government,
spiritual revival nation-
wide and in Illinois Valley,
the war on terrorism, and
continued U.S. support for
the nation of Israel.
Sterling Savings Bank,
which has its Illinois Val-
ley Branch in Cave Junc-
tion, will host a customer
appreciation celebration.
The celebration will
run from Monday, May 3
through Friday, May 7.
The valley branch, as
well as other of Sterling’s
newest Oregon branches,
will serve refreshments
and treats.
In
addition,
a
“congratulations cake” will
be cut on Friday afternoon.
Guests will have the op-
portunity to win a Bose
Wave radio, Sony DVD/
VCR combo player, and a
CharBroil patio caddie gas
grill. Details are available
at the valley branch.
Sterling acquired new
Oregon branches through
its merger with Klamath
First Bancorp.
