Thursday, March 11
*An unoccupied vehi-
cle on Redwood Hwy. at
Westside Road was
checked out at 9:01 a.m.
*A land owner said her
tenant had told her that
neighbors were cutting
timber on her property.
She was to check the situa-
tion and recontact the sher-
iff’s office.
*Transients were con-
gregating and “hanging
out” behind a business in
the 100 block of S. Red-
wood Hwy. to the annoy-
ance of the owner.
*After a citizen re-
ported several minors in
possession (MIP) of alco-
hol “under the second
bridge,” five teen-agers
were cited on charges of
MIP. Max S. Taylor, 18,
was cited on charges of
furnishing alcohol to mi-
nors and MIP.
*In the 200 block of
Shadowbrook Drive, a
property owner reported
finding “dark, dry liquid”
in front of the bathroom
sink, and a thick object
wrapped in a towel be-
neath the sink. The deputy
determined it to be a
plumbing problem.
*Children playing with
a phone in the 300 block of
Pine Tree Way were re-
sponsible for a 911-hangup
call at 3:57 p.m.
*In Selma, a man said
a woman pushed his mom,
and then left headed to-
ward Cave Junction in a
pickup truck with an in-
toxicated man. OSP was
advised. The man’s mom
did not press charges.
*A man said he had
been struck in the face by
another man who left prior
to a deputy’s arrival in the
1000 block of Thompson
Creek Road at 6:13 p.m.
*A small container of
a green leafy substance,
which may have been
marijuana, found earlier in
the day on playground at
Evergreen Elementary
School, was destroyed be-
fore a deputy at 8:30 p.m.
*Two drivers were
warned for having defec-
tive equipment in Cave
Junction around 9:30 p.m.
*A driver was warned
for an obscured license
plate at 10:30 p.m.
Friday, March 12
*A driver was warned
for failure to dim high
beams, speeding, and ex-
pired tags at 12:24 a.m.
*A driver was warned
for failure to maintain a
lane, and driving uninsured
at 1:26 a.m.
*A cyclist was warned
for not having lights or
reflectors on her bicycle
and for failure to obey a
traffic control device at
1:51 a.m.
*Brock L. Chapman,
24, was cited on a charge
of failure to display license
plate and expired registra-
tion at 2:06 a.m.
*Extra patrol was con-
ducted at O’Brien Country
Store at 2:42 a.m.
*Another driver be-
came angry after a near-
collision on Draper Valley
Road, and began to harass
him, a man said by cell
phone from Hwy. 199.
Both vehicles were pulled
over on Redwood Hwy. at
Willow Lane near Grants
Pass, where the driver of
the second vehicle, James
L. Tritle, 22, was cited on
charges of offensive litter-
ing, failure to register vehi-
cle, and failure to carry
registration.
*A woman said a sin-
gle blank check stolen
from her vehicle was
cashed in the Portland area
for $150. A report for
third-degree theft was
filed.
*After yelling at the
manager of an establish-
ment in the 200 block of
N. Redwood Hwy., a man
described as a “transient”
was contacted and warned
for disorderly conduct and
told to stay out of traffic.
*Though possible sa-
tanic activity was sus-
pected on Warren Road,
the altar and cross found
were deemed simply a me-
morial.
*A figure in a long
black coat with a hood
lurking near Illinois Valley
High School prompted a
call to the sheriff’s office
at 3:16 p.m.
*Two girls, approxi-
mately 5-years-old, walked
into a residence in the
24000 block of Redwood
Hwy. at 4:56 p.m. As they
had no adult with them, the
home owner called law-
men, who returned the
girls to their parents and
counseled the adults about
letting the children walk
on a highway.
*A report of third-
degree theft was filed for a
purple bicycle stolen from
the 100 block of Kerby
Avenue.
*Sometime during
school hours, a car stereo
and two cases with CDs
valued at $7,000 were sto-
len from a vehicle parked
at Illinois Valley High
School.
*A woman’s sister had
used her Social Security
number to obtain a driver’s
license and apply for credit
cards. Though the matter
would be handled civilly,
the woman needed a case
number for the bank.
*Because her es-
tranged husband threat-
ened to kill her and burn
the house down, a woman
requested this information
be logged at 5:45 p.m.
*A driver was warned
for speeding on N. Red-
wood Hwy. at Lister Street
at 7:16 p.m.
*The power steering
box for a small pickup
truck was stolen from a
man’s backyard in the
22000 block of Redwood
Hwy.
*A driver was warned
for failure to use head-
lights when required at
8:27 p.m.
*Patrol was advised of
an
erratic
driver
southbound from Deer
Creek Road on Hwy. 199
at 8:44 p.m.
*A driver was warned
for a defective driver’s
side headlight at 8:45 p.m.
in the 1000 block of Caves
Hwy.
*Much screaming and
yelling was heard from a
residence on McMullen
Creek Road at 8:48 p.m.
The cause of the problem
had left prior to a deputy’s
arrival.
*911 was misdialed
from a residence in the 500
block of Dick George
Road at 10:23 p.m.
Saturday, March 13
*Nik L. Baker, 39, was
arrested on charges of
forth-degree assault, two
counts of menacing and
harassment and taken to
