Mr. Allison served in the U.S. Navy, playing guitar and coronet in the Navy band. He worked in the building industry his entire civilian career, retir- ing from Illinois Valley Building Supply in Cave Junction in 1995. He worked for Skyline Mobile Homes for many years prior to moving to Oregon. He loved fishing, gar- dening, traveling, pets, and especially his ministry of music. He directed church choirs and congregational singing for more than 40 years. He was a member of Foots Creek Chapel. Besides his wife, of Rogue River, survivors are his daughter, Carla Munoz of Woodland; and two granddaughters. St. Patrick of the Forest Catholic Church The Gospel Reading on the Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time will be from Luke, Chapter 6. Jesus tells the disciples who will be blessed and who will get the “woe to’s” -- and the rich, well- fed and popular folks did- n’t fare well. It was the poor, hungry, and weep- ing, and those who were hated on account of the Son of Man, who would be blessed. So, when things aren’t going well for us, we can find encouragement and comfort in these words. Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Simon Peter was called by Jesus to be a dis- ciple, a follower, a doer of the word of God. How did this fisherman react? He wanted Jesus to get away from him -- he felt unworthy of such trust, such responsibility. Is this how we feel? Unprepared and unworthy to be examples of God’s love?
