Girl dies in two-vehicle
crash at Hubbard and 199

Medical, rescue and
law enforcement personnel
responded to a two-vehicle
fatal crash at the intersec-
tion of Redwood Hwy. and
Hubbard Lane on Thurs-
day, Jan. 15 at approxi-
mately 5:45 p.m.
Holly Repp, 18, of
Grants Pass, died of inju-
ries at the scene, said Ore-
gon State Police. The other
driver was identified as
Richard Marcello, 33, also
of Grants Pass.
The incident occurred
two miles south of GP,
near Rogue Community
College.
OSP’s investigation
found that the 1989
Pontiac driven by Repp
had halted at the stop sign
at the Hubbard Lane inter-
section before pulling out
onto the highway directly
in front of Marcello’s 2004
GMC Envoy.
Marcello was taken by
American Medical Re-
sponse (AMR) to Three
Rivers Community Hospi-
tal, where he was treated
and released.
Besides AMR, OSP
was assisted at the scene
by Rural/Metro Fire Dept.,
U.S. Forest Service law
enforcement, and Oregon
Dept. of Transportation.

the Josephine and Jackson
County Assessment Depts.
is sponsoring two work-
shops to discuss changes to
the Oregon forestland
property tax system result-
ing from two laws passed
by the 2003 Oregon Legis-
lature. The same informa-
tion will be presented at
both sessions.
All forestland owners
with more than two acres
of forestland will be trans-
ferred to a new Forestland
Program. Owners with 10-
4,999 acres may apply for
a special program, the
Small Tract Forest (STF)
Option. Both programs
will be discussed at the
workshops.
The Jackson County
session will be held Thurs-
day, Jan. 29 at 7 p.m., in
the OSU Extension Audi-
torium, 569 Hanley Road,

documentary video of the Mien journey from their
homeland mountains in Laos through the camps in
Thailand, and into the United States. The video also
illustrates the effects of American culture on the
Mien refugees. We are pleased to be showing this
video at the time when the Lorna Byrne Middle
School seventh grade is studying Asia.

and Gail Boatman. He has
maintained a 3.2 grade-
point average.

Class treasurer, and Asso-
ciated Student Body presi-
dent his junior and senior
years.
He is a member of stu-
dent government, Math-
letes, Brain Bowl team,
Snow-boarding Club, and
soccer, basketball and golf
teams. He has received the
Skyline Conference
Scholar Athlete Award.
