Cougars win volleyball opener with South Umpqua
Illinois Valley’s var-
sity volleyball team sent
South Umpqua packing
Thursday, Sept. 4 in five
games.
The Cougars won the
match 14-25, 21-25, 25-21,
25-23, and 16-11 in Ken
Mann Memorial Gym.
Kim Hamilton ham-
mered 22 kills and had
nine digs to lead the Cou-
gars, and Serena Barry
added nine kills.
The Cougars will play
host to North Valley on
Thursday, Sept. 11. The
frosh/soph game starts at
5:15 p.m. The varsity girls
start at 6:30 p.m.
Investment Club
Armchair Investment Club will hold its regular
monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 15. Meetings
are held in the offices of Oregon Mountain Real Estate on
the third Monday of each month. Several memberships are
open. Persons interested in investing in the stock market
are invited to attend.
Garden Club
The Illinois Valley Garden Club will have its first
meeting of the 2003-04 year on Friday, Sept. 19. Coffee
hour will begin at 12:30 p.m. The meeting will be at 1 p.m.
at Immanuel United Methodist Church, 200 W. Watkins
St., Cave Junction. Deer deterrent methods for gardens and
flower beds will be discussed.
Hostesses for the September meeting are Arlene Block,
Hope Loften and Laurie Morrow. Officers for the next two
years are President Edith Martin, Secretary, Darlene
Milner and Treasurer Diana Rietan.

three types of discretionary

Special Transportation
Grants are available to pro-
viders of transportation
services to the elderly and
disabled persons.
