Aspiring young artists were sup- ported by the Through the Children’s Eyes project and created two murals one showcased at the Caves Open House, the other at the River Celebra- tion. Infrastructure also got a boost. I.V. Family Coali- tion received help to install parking lights at the I.V. Family Resource Center and Friends of the I.V. Air- port used its grant to help construct a trail to the bo- tanical area, construct an information kiosk, and in- stall nine tie-downs to se- cure visiting planes. The swimming pool - now owned by the city, will benefit from the grant made to the Boys and Girls Club to sponsor children to attend its annual end of summer party. Educational events were supported in several ways. Siskiyou Field Insti- tute used its grant to pro- vide scholarships for local people its annual work- shops, and the Family Re- source Center will provide computer training for 10 to 15 people. I.V. CRT salutes these organizations and the good work they are doing for the valley. Oregon Caves Outfit- ters - With more than $156,000 in combined sales in July -- the best month ever -- the conces- sion is having a successful summer. The targeted 30 percent growth in sales over last summer looks like it will be met and even surpassed. With reserva- tions up and the daily visi- tation high, August is look- ing like it will be another good month. Board Nominees - Nominees are still being sought to join the board to replace vacancies. The se- lection will be at the next workshop on Thursday, Aug. 21.
