Lovejoy
announces
new staff
Lovejoy Hospice an-
nounced during a press
conference on Thursday,
July 31, the appointment of
three Oregon licensed so-
cial workers to its Social
Services Dept.
Jenny Clark, L.C.S.W.,
Joan Clark, L.C.S.W., and
Youske Eto, M.S.W.,
joined the department,
which provides social ser-
vices to hospice patients
and their families such as
case management, grief
and bereavement support,
respite support and com-
munity referrals.
A memorial to past
Board of Director’s Presi-
dent, Dr. Tenison Haley,
was also unveiled in the
Lovejoy Hospice fountain
garden during the morning
event.
Haley, a counseling
psychologist and member
of the Oregon Association
for Marriage and Family
Therapy, was a Lovejoy
Hospice volunteer until his
death in October 2002.
He was the dean of
students at Rogue Commu-
nity College, and later
dean emeritus, and served
on the Advisory Council-
Community Services for
Josephine County.
He was also an active
member of the National
Hospice Organization and
was instrumental in the
development of Lovejoy
Hospice services in the
area community.
A permanent memorial
in the form of a bronze
engraved heart on natural
soft gray marble reads,
“our friend and fellow
worker who inspired us all
with his love of people and
the great outdoors.”
“The addition of our
staff of three Oregon li-
censed medical social
workers meets the increas-
ing demand to reach more
patients and their fami-
lies,” said Christina Snell,
Lovejoy executive direc-
tor. “Compassionate care
for the social, economic,
and emotional needs of our
patients and families was
greatly inspired by the vol-
unteer work of Tenison
Haley. The department is
positioned well to carry
out Dr. Haley’s dreams for
Lovejoy Hospice.”

St. Patrick of the Forest
Catholic Church
Next Sunday, the 19th
Sunday in Ordinary Time,
we will continue reading
from John’s Gospel. Jesus
tells the Jews, “I am the
living bread come down
from heaven; whoever eats
this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will
give is my flesh for the life
of the world.”
These surely are tough
words to comprehend, but
with faith we know Jesus
spoke the truth and if we
accept His teaching and
take the “living bread” into
our hearts, our eternal fu-
ture will be happiness.

What an invitation we
are offered and what an
invitation we have to offer
the world!
“Christ is the bread of
life. Whoever comes to
Him will never be hungry,
and whoever believes in
Him will never be thirsty.”
Bread can sustain us for
the moment, the day. But
the bread, Jesus Christ, can
sustain us for a lifetime.
