ahold of the woman to

*Deputies responded
to an accident involving a
motorcycle and a vehicle
in the 24300 block of Red-
wood Hwy. The motorcy-
clist refused to be trans-
ported to a hospital, depu-
ties said.
*Lauren E. Schon-
bachler, 19, of Selma, was
arrested on a warrant for
second-degree animal ne-
glect in the 2500 block of
Jerome Prairie Road in
Grants Pass.
*A man said a van
driven by a 14-year-old
boy crashed into a tree at
Lake Selmac. Two people
refused transport and one
man was taken to TRCH.
Michael Edward White,
14, was cited on a charge
of driving without an op-
erator’s permit.
*Deputies responded
to a single-injury motorcy-
cle accident in the 16800
block of Redwood Hwy. A
man with unknown injuries
was transported to TRCH.
*An anonymous per-
son in the 10000 block of
Takilma Road said a
neighbor was playing his
music too loud at 7:19 p.m.
*In the 24500 block of
Redwood Hwy. a woman
said some teen-agers were
spray painting bicycles and
cars. Deputies were unable
to locate the teen-agers.
*In the 4900 block of
Happy Camp Road a man
said he was having trouble
breaking up a fight be-
tween a man and a woman.
The man fled and the
woman was taken to a
friend’s house.
Monday, July 21
*A man said a shotgun
was missing from his tool
shed in the 2600 block of
Deer Creek Road.
*At Art’s Red Garter
Saloon and Steak House a
woman said her vehicle
was taken without her per-
mission. Deputies sent a
description of the missing
vehicle to several county
agencies in Oregon.
*In the 10000 block of
Takilma an anonymous
person worried about fire
safety reported hearing gun
shots.
*Ken
James
Halverson, 36, turned him-
self in at the I.V. Substa-
tion on a probation de-
tainer. He was transported
to jail in Grants Pass.
*A woman in the 100
block of S. Kerby Avenue
said her Social Security
number is being used by
somebody in New York.
*At Taylor’s Country
Store a man broke a win-
dow of a vehicle with his
fist and fled on foot, but
left his vehicle behind.
*In the 24500 block of
Redwood Hwy. deputies
responded to a near drown-
ing. Deputies said the per-
son was OK.
*Cameron Daily, 35,
was cited on a charge of
second-degree criminal
mischief for punching a
car window at Taylor’s
Country Store. Deputies
found him in the 200 block
of Watkins Street.
*An anonymous citi-
zen said two men were
dumping oil and fuel from
a dredge at Lake Selmac.
Deputies contacted the
park ranger.
Tuesday, July 22
*In the 200 block of
W. O'Brien Street a man
said another man tried to
grab him and throw him
off his porch. Deputies
said the dispute was over a
civil matter.
*In the 7300 block of
Caves Hwy. a man said he
was assaulted after arguing
about a pay raise. The per-
petrator grabbed the man’s
shirt causing bruising and
scratches to the man’s
chest, he said. Deputies
said one of the men quit
his job over the incident.
*In the 24500 block of
Redwood Hwy. a woman
said her 5-gallon bottle of
water was missing from
her porch. She later can-
celed the complaint.
*Deputies recovered a
stolen van near the top of
Hay’s Hill. The vehicle
was not drivable and the
dash was stripped. Jerry’s
Tow removed the vehicle.
*At P.J.’s Café in
Downtown Cave Junction
a man said two young men
ate breakfast and were go-
ing to pay with an out-of-
state check. He refused the
check and the men left
their backpack in the res-
taurant while they said
they were going to get
cash. They didn’t return.

including the backpack.
*In the 600 block of
Eight Dollar Road a
woman said a vehicle was
being vandalized at a
neighbor’s house. Deputies
said the vehicle was stolen.
*In the 500 block of
W. River Street a citizen
reported seeing two men
driving while intoxicated.
*A man reported see-
ing two men in the 8000
block of Eight Dollar Road
acting suspicious and pos-
sibly making metham-
phetamine in a trailer. The
man received the informa-
tion from a person camp-
ing in the area.
*At Lake Selmac a
man said he asked some
people to stop using their
dredge. Another man
drinking beer in the area
told them it was OK to
dredge there. Deputies said
the men stopped dredging
and the other man was
asked to leave.
*At “Forks” State Park
four people were warned
about park hours by depu-
ties at 9:11 p.m.
*In the 2300 block of
Reeves Creek Road a man
said he is afraid of his wife
who has a history of drug
and violence problems. He
said he married her in
April and is realizing now
that they don’t get along.
He added that several of
his family heirlooms have
been missing since marry-
ing her. Deputies advised
him of his options.
*Deputies contacted a
man at Lake Selmac to see
if he could pick up a rela-
tive arrested in Crescent
City, but the man claimed
he didn't have enough gas.
A woman drove to Cres-
cent City to pick up the
child who was with the
relative when she was ar-
rested, deputies said.
*In the 400 block of
Redwood Hwy. Jo Ann
Marie Rhodes, 35, was
cited and released on a
warrant for failing to ap-
pear on a charge of driving
under the influence of in-
toxicants.
*In the 300 block of
W. Lister Street a woman
with a history of angina
said she was having chest
pain after smoking two
cigarettes.
*A man said six horses
were running loose on
Rockydale Road at 7:07
a.m.
*In the 100 block of
Boundary Lane a woman
said her window screen
was pried off and thrown
into a nearby tree. She said
someone tried to enter her
residence but probably left
when they saw a gun near
her bed.
*A man in the 2000
block of Laurel Road said
there was a horse in his
neighbor’s garden that was
heading toward the road.
Deputies said the horse
was reunited with its
owner.
*In the 300 block of S.
Kerby Avenue a woman
said another woman threat-
ened her and her sister-in-
law over a cat.
*A man said a couple
was fighting with each
other in the 2500 block of
Caves Hwy. Deputies said
they advised the couple of
their options.
*A man in the 300
block of Caves Hwy. said
he accidentally shot him-
self in the chest when he
was cleaning his rifle. He
was transported to TRCH
and was placed on a peace
officer mental hold by
deputies.
KERBY ROLL-OVER -
Craig S. Pryor, 43, of
Cottage Grove, driver of
a 1964 Toyota Land
Cruiser towing a trailer
that crashed on Sunday,
Aug. 3, was taken for
treatment by American
Medical Response. He
was taken to Three Riv-
ers Community Hospital.
Passengers Kimmy Jo
Bannister, 41, of Eugene
and Richard Ethier, 64, of
Cave Junction were re-
ported uninjured, said
Oregon State Police. Illi-
nois Valley firefighters
responded to the crash
near 24000 Hwy. 199 to
assist. The crash closed
both lanes of the high-
way for approximately 30
minutes causing miles-
long lines of traffic in
both directions until the
wreck was cleared. It
was not immediately
known what caused the
crash, but there was
speculation
that
the
trailer might have been a
factor.
