Charges can be amended or dismissed.) * * * Monday, Jan. 13 *At 1:30 p.m. a man in the 8700 block of Takilma Road reported being robbed at gunpoint in his home by three men in ski masks. They made him lie down on the floor, tell- ing him they would come back and kill him if he told the police. He reported that the suspects had stolen his vehicle which was later found on the Dome School parking lot. Sunday, Jan. 19 *A man in the 38000 block of Redwood Hwy. com- plained that he is having an ongoing problem with his neighbor. Something about her removing a sign from his property. Monday, Jan. 20 *The silent alarm at Selma Select Market sounded at 1:15 a.m. A broken window and broken lights were found, however, it didn’t look like anyone gained entry. *Matthew Talbutt, 20, was arrested on a charge of first degree rape, at 5:06 a.m. in the 100 block of Hogue Drive. *Someone at the Selma Quick Stop Mart reported that an unknown person attempted to break into the store causing an estimated $250 in damage. *A woman in the 6000 block of Westside road re- ported that someone knocked her gate over, and she thinks she knows who did it. *A man in the 400 block of Draper Valley Road com- plained that his neighbor shoots a high powered rifle every morning. *Someone removed the passenger rear window of a vehicle parked in the lot of a business in the 300 block of Caves Hwy. *A deputy located some vandalized mailboxes in the 600 block of Pine Cone Drive at 11:55 a.m. *At 2:17 p.m. someone reported a woman driving all over the road with an unre- strained child in the vehicle, in the 200 block of Watkins Street. *Philip C. Stockwell, 51, was cited on a charge of speeding in the 22000 block of Redwood Hwy. *There was an out of con- trol child reported in the 7800 block of Caves Hwy. *A man fainted by the back door of a business in the 300 block of S. Redwood Hwy. A friend gave him a ride to medical facilities. Tuesday, Jan. 21 *Some kind of trespassing incident happened in the 9000 block of Takilma Road. *In the 100 block of Kerby Avenue a man was warned regarding trespassing, then his landlord gave him until noon the next day to re- move his belongings. *There was a report of a non-injury accident in the 19000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 1:26 p.m. *A woman in the 600 block of South Junction Ave- nue reported that someone drove into her chain link fence. *In the 1200 block of Ar- rowhead Drive, a woman complained that her neighbor threatened to shoot her if she came onto his property again, after she confronted him about continually shooting at his house. *After complaining to deputies that his neighbor had been shooting guns all day, Illinois Valley News, Cave Junction, OR Wednesday, February 5, 2003 the neighbor drove onto the complainants driveway to tell him he would shoot him if he ever sees him in the woods. *A woman complained that a lock had been pried open on a vacant cabin in the 9500 block of Takilma Road. *In the 100 block of O’Brien Street a woman re- ported that her landlord was yelling at her about things. *Norman Leslie Berger, 46, was arrested on a charges of disorderly conduct, resist- ing arrest, and assault on a public safety officer, in the 200 block of Lister at 4:38 p.m. *Otis Jones was arrested and charged with probation violation at 5:54 p.m. in the 100 block of Redwood Hwy. *A man in the 100 block of Forest Creek Road reported his storage shed had been bur- glarized. *There was some sort of a tenant landlord dispute in the 200 block of Illinois River Road. Wednesday, Jan. 22 *A woman in the 100 block of Hogue Drive reported hearing someone cutting down trees on property adjacent from her. She said trees were cut down on her property without permission. *In the 600 block of Pine Cone Drive, a woman com- plained about her son causing a disturbance. *In the 300 block of Old Stage Road Anya Marie Brummett, 17, was cited on charges of charges of no oper- ating permit and failure to yield right of way, at 11:37 a.m. *A deputy rendered assis- tance in the 1400 block of Ar- rowhead Drive. Someone had apparently created dirt burms on an easement road. *A woman in the 1200 block of Arrowhead Drive made many complaints about her neighbor. *Roger C. Kelm, 46, was arrested on a charge of proba- tion violation at 2:14 p.m., in the 100 block of Pinewood Way. *A woman in the 8000 block of Takilma Road com- plained that a man who lives on the property was harassing her. *A pastor of a local church reported that 3 juvenile females told him of an assault on a 15-year-old girl. A dep- uty contacted the girl, and found no evidence of a crime. *In the 300 block of Kerby Street a man com- plained that his chainsaw had been taken. Thursday, Jan. 23 *A couple in the 700 block of Naue Way went to different parts of their resi- dence and agreed that they would not have any more do- mestic disturbances, after he dialed 911 at 12:32 a.m. *A mother and a son were yelling at each other because she wanted him to clean up the house in the 500 block of Hummingbird Road. *A woman in the 100 block of Norman Road re- ported that someone had taken dog food from her shed. *Elizabeth A. Edwards, 33 was cited on charges of speeding, driving while sus- pended (DWS), and having no liability insurance in the 18000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 10:47 a.m. *At 11:57 a.m. assistance was rendered to a motorist at South Redwood Hwy. and E. Lister Street. *Floyd George Tibbits, 24, was arrested on a charge of probation violation at 1:49 p.m. in the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy. *A deputy rendered assis- tance to a Dept. of Human Services (DHS) worker doing a welfare check on children in the 2000 block of Lone Moun- tain Road at 2:22 p.m. *There was a vehicle off the side of the road in the 23000 block of Redwood Hwy. *There were reports of domestic violence in progress in the 100 block of S. Sawyer Avenue. *In the 100 block of Hogue Drive a woman re- ported people being on some property where they should not be. *People that it was thought should not be at the address in the 100 block of Hogue Drive turned out to be tenants moving their things. *At 9:40 p.m. on Caves Hwy. and Old Stage Road there was a disturbance that sounded like people were pos- sibly going to get into a fight. *At 9:48 p.m. in the 2000 block of Caves Hwy. Ross James McCafferty, 22, was cited on a charge of DWS, and driving uninsured. *A woman in the 100 block of Krauss Lane reported that the man she has been married to for 12 years remar- ried someone else without being divorced from her. Friday, Jan. 24 *A man in the 100 block of N. Redwood Hwy. failed to leave his name after hitting another vehicle. *A deputy counseled a woman regarding her misuse of 911. *In the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. a vehicle pull- ing a trailer was reported to be (Continued on page 5) USFS OPEN HOUSE - Representatives from different branches of the U.S. Forest Service were on hand to answer questions regarding recovery after the Biscuit Fire at an open house on Thursday, Jan. 30 at the county building in downtown Cave Junction. The open house was the final of four, with the previous three being held in Grants Pass, Gold Beach, and Brookings. Among representatives present were Pam Bode, district ranger for Illinois Valley and Tom Link, Biscuit project manager. Link (former acting district ranger for Illinois Valley) will be overseeing the Environmental Impact Statement for the Biscuit Fire, which Link said will take approximately nine-months to complete. Displays at the open house included maps and infor- mation concerning various subjects such as forest products/salvage timber sales and social/ recreation. (Photo by Sam Newton) Siskiyou RAC approves Title II funding The Siskiyou Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) voted to recommend funding approximately $1,085,000 of Title II projects on the Siski- you National Forest through Sept. 30. These recommendations are consistent with the Secure Rural Schools and Commu- nity Self Determination Act of 2000. The committee recom- mended a total of 28 projects to be implemented on federal land, or on adjacent private lands where there is benefit to the public lands. Approximately $595,000 of the projects are in Curry County, with $410,000 in Jo- sephine County, and $81,000 in Coos County. Scott Conroy, Forest Su- pervisor for the Rogue River and Siskiyou National Forests, approved the RACs recom- mendations, and committed the funding for this year’s Ti- tle II projects. The projects were grouped into 13 categories, including control of noxious weeds, for- est health improvement, fish habitat restoration, infrastruc- ture maintenance, road de- commissioning/obliteration, road maintenance, re-establish native species, soil productiv- ity improvement, trail mainte- nance. The project list is online at www.fs.fed.us/r6/ siskiyou/rac. It is anticipated that most of these projects well be started this summer. Proposals for 2004 Title II projects may be submitted by the public no later than April 1, 2003. Applications forms and instructions are available at forest service offices or online.
