Thank you By the time most of you read this, I will have retired after nearly 26 years with the Tribe, all as the editor of Siletz News. And the thing I want to say most is – thank you. … For trusting a non-Native person with your stories, your history, jokes and sorrows. … For being so resilient, showing me how vibrant Tribes are today and making me want to root for Tribes in all things. .. For understanding that when I asked “Why?” I was trying to understand so I could learn more about you and your traditions. … For not being (too) annoyed with the camera I always seemed to have and for letting me record some of your modern-day history. … For the family-first work environment that helped my family get through some serious health issues and keep my job. … For helping me achieve my goal of retiring from here, which about five years in seemed like a good way to wrap up my career. I will miss you. Know that you will always have a piece of my heart.
