Tribal Housing employees among few to achieve national certification

DeAnda Sr. are enrolled members of the
Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians and
are employed at the Siletz Tribal Housing
Department.
On May 9 during the National Ameri-
can Indian Housing Council’s (NAIHC)
Annual Convention in Denver, Colo., all
three employees received the Professional
Indian Housing Management certification.
Occupancy, Property Maintenance Man-
agement and Environmental Compliance.
Each course ended with a two-hour
exam, where participants must score
80% or better to receive credit toward
certification.
Since the inception of the NAIHC
Leadership Institute, a mere 60 Indian
Housing professionals have achieved suc-
cessful completion of the PIHM training
track. Previously, Terry Fisher and Jessica
Garcia received the same certification,
making it five Siletz Tribal members who
have received this prestigious certification.
Well done!
To receive this certification, Godwin,
Lane and DeAnda were each required to
complete eight courses offered by the
NAIHC Leadership Institute, including
Indian Housing Management, Financing
Affordable Housing Development, Finan-
cial Management, Project Management,
Supervisory Management, Admissions &

Contact the Siletz Community Dental Clinic if you experience dental pain or a
dental emergency. Staff will do everything they can to see you as soon as possible.
Morning check-in time is Monday-Thursday from 8:15-8:45 a.m. and Friday
from 9-9:30 a.m. Afternoon check-in time is Monday-Friday from 1:30-2 p.m.

Siletz Tribal Head Start is accepting applications for the 2019-2020 school
year. We have classrooms in Siletz, Lincoln City, Salem and Portland.
Children must be age 3 or 4 as of the school cut-off date – Sept.1 for Siletz,
Lincoln City and Portland, or Sept. 10 for Salem.
Applications are available on the Tribal website (ctsi.nsn.us), at your
local area office, or by calling 800-922-1399 or 541-444-2450 and asking for
Head Start.
