Dear Tribal members:
I am Gloria Ingle and I am declaring my candidacy for Tribal Council. I will be
completing my first term in February. It has been a steep learning curve as well as an
exciting and rewarding time. Because the council works well together, we have accom-
plished many things during the last three years:

Youth Council Objective:
The objectives of this group shall be to provide a collective voice and represent
the Tribal youth in all matters that concern them; to serve as a means of mobilizing
and coordinating the actions of youth, other community members and organizations
toward positive goals; to promote the development of future Tribal leaders; to help solve
problems facing Tribal youth; to coordinate school and community service projects
and provide opportunities for the youth to interact for fun and fellowship.

We have worked with others to be able to distribute the largest per capita payment
ever to Tribal members.
As the Tribal Council representative to the Health Committee, I have helped to
expand health services, including Behavioral Health. More people are insured than
in the past, providing dollars to meet deferred and alternative health care needs.
Each year we support Siletz Valley School though direct contributions as well as
school programs.
Many of you have learned about the work we are doing in economic development
that will provide our Tribal people invaluable opportunities for many years to come.
Tribal members have reached out to let me know that I have helped them, listened
or to tell me they think I am doing a good job. Thank you for your vote of confidence.
In conclusion, I am proud of the things we have done through gaming dollars,
coverage at the clinic and our support of education as well as many other things. The
Tribe’s new steps in economic development should be exciting and I would like to be
able to continue to be part of what we have started.
I have been proud to represent you as a councilman. I look forward to your con-
tinued support and your vote in February.

To all Siletz Tribal members of voting age:
During the last seven years I have run for Tribal Council, I have witnessed such
low voter turnout in the elections. As of November 2016, there are 3,652 eligible Siletz
Tribal members 18 years and older who can vote.
Now here are some interesting numbers for you – 2,367 Tribal members are
registered to vote, which means about 1,300 Tribal members are not exercising their
inherent Tribal right to vote!
This is where it gets even more puzzling – last year only 705 Tribal members voted.
That means almost 3,000 Tribal members did not vote!
There is such a low number of voters turning out and voting that 300-400 Tribal
members are voting for the same people and Tribal members end up with the same
results year in and year out. Ask yourself – are your inherent rights being addressed?
Is your inherent voice being heard? Be sure to vote.
