    Chairman’s Report
Nesika Illahee Pow-Wow
The pow-wow and parade were out-
standing this year. The feedback received
has been overwhelming.
Our royalty has done a great job rep-
resenting the Tribe over the past year and
they are to be commended for carrying
out their responsibilities as ambassadors
for the Tribe.
It was enjoyable hosting former
Gov. Ted Kulongoski and his wife, Mary
Oberst. They sent a nice thank you note
saying how much they enjoyed their time
in Siletz.
Oregon Coast Economic Summit in North
Bend. Sen. Arnie Roblan organized the
event and the Coquille Tribe was the host.
the Siletz Tribal Business Corporation.
A final decision will be made in the near
future.
Many issues were presented, from
natural resources to water along with the
coastal economy. Sen. Ron Wyden was the
keynote speaker; the audience included
many of our elected officials. The summit
was very well-attended.
The Lincoln City Council hosted a
joint meeting with the Tribal Council
in Lincoln City. Agenda items included
economic development, housing, taxes
and our Memorandum of Understanding.
The city council and the Tribe have formed
a great relationship.
Tribal Council activities
The council hosted the Oregon Tribes
at a meeting just prior to the pow-wow.
Agenda items included the Oregon Youth
Authority, mascot legislation, Chemawa
Indian School, the Portland racetrack and
other concerns of all the Tribes.
The council has had an extremely
busy month. Many of us attended the

August was also a difficult month
as my sister, Rose Bremner, passed away.
She will be remembered for her work on
committees, her friendship in the com-
munity, sewing regalia, beading and many
other activities she undertook in her life.
We miss her.
