CEDARR Happenings: Help prepare for Prescription Drug Abuse Summit
By Cyndee Druba, SPF Coordinator
This is a reminder and invitation to
all of you - we would like you to join
us at our monthly coalition meetings.
CEDARR is a group of community mem
bers who meet regularly to talk about and
seek solutions to our community’s misuse
of drugs and alcohol, placing special
focus on the health and safety of our
young people living in our community.
We met on Feb. 1 at the Siletz Public
Library; this meeting was attended by nine
of our awesome community members.
The main focus was discussion and plans
for the 2012 Youth Film Program Project.
Currently, three schools in Lincoln
County will take part in the 2012 Youth
Film Program Project, including the fresh
man class at Siletz Valley School.
The focus of this year’s film projects
is on prescription drug abuse. During the
next couple of months, guest speakers will
visit the school to educate and motivate
our students to create an inspirational,
educational and informative film for the
world to see through their eyes. How cool
is that?
These films created by local youth
will be presented for the first time in May
at the Prescription Drug Abuse Summit
hosted by the Lincoln County District
Attorney’s office. PAADA (Partnership
Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse) and
CEDARR will help plan this event.
This will be a huge event in our com
munity. Much planning and collaboration
is taking place at the local community
level. Your words of wisdom and creative
ideas are important for projects such as
this, so please attend CEDARR meetings
and share your knowledge with us all.
