To the editor:
Thank you very much to Fawn Metcalf and CTSI for the pellet stove purchased
for our family to make us warm and cuddly throughout years to come.
The Elkins Family
To the editor:
We would like to thank all ot the family and friends who attended Roy Downey’s
memorial and those who sent cards and well wishes to us over the course of his illness
and his passing. Your love and support meant a lot to all of us.
It is hard to say goodbye to a parent but knowing that we will see him again
someday helps to get through the hurt. We also know that he is in good company and
dancing up a storm in the presence of those who have gone on before him.
We would like to say a special thank you to the Elders staff and the volunteers who
helped them in the kitchen and with serving the meal. We also want to thank the main
tenance crew tor being so kind and putting the chairs and tables back in order for us.
A huge thank you goes to the Kentta/Miller families for getting Dad’s picture
taken care of, donations ot food, putting the music and video together and for always
being there throughout our lives to support and love us whenever we have needed you.
To Kathryn Murders: Thank you for speaking for us. You did an awesome job and
we are forever grateful. To our cousin. Buster Lane: We so appreciate you and your
willingness to help us say goodbye to our Dad in a respectful and loving way.
Sincerely,
Michael and Denise Downey, Rebecca and Michael Williams, Penny and Steve
Barclay, Scott Downey and Ginger Gabriel, Brenda West, Kathleen and Stan

Rockets launch in casino parking lot
Carole Clark, manager of Chinook Winds Play Palace and Games Galore Arcade,
has been busy planning educational events for youth to enjoy at the Play Palace. Among
those events was a visit on Dec. 21 from J.R. Pollnow, education outreach coordinator
for the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville, Ore.
The outreach program sends him to schools all over Western Oregon. He antici
pated seeing as many as 3,700 students in January alone.
Pollnow helped the children at the Play Palace better understand the concept of
aeronautics with the help of a small rocket-launcher set up in the parking lot of Chi
nook Winds. It was a clear and beautiful December day, perfect weather for each child
to launch a small rocket made of a tightly rolled piece of S’/zxl 1-inch piece of paper.
Clark has many activities planned for youth in 2012. Among them is the return of
Pollnow, hopefully during spring break in March.
