Gill shares These Days, other hits
in two concerts at Chinook Winds

Springfield comes to coast with
high-energy concerts, string of hits
Rock and movie star Rick Springfield
will perform in concert on Oct. 28-29 at
Chinook Winds Casino Resort.
Springfield has sold more than 19
million records, including 17 top-40 hits.
He has performed for millions of fans over
the last three decades and continues to
play more than 100 shows a year.
In 1981 after years of struggle,
Springfield found himself in the midst of
recording the pop/rock album Working
Class Dog and was cast to play the young,
eligible Dr. Noah Drake on the popular
daytime drama General Hospital.
That same year he skyrocketed to
the top of Billboard’s charts with Jessie’s
Girl and I’ve Done Everything for You.
The following year, he won a Grammy
for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.
In 1982, Springfield followed the
success of Working Class Dog with Suc
cess Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet. The album
contained a string of top-40 hits, includ
ing Don’t Talk to Strangers that charted
at No. 2. He was nominated for a second
Grammy and in 1983 was nominated for
a third, in addition to gamering an Ameri
can Music Award.
His 1983 album Living in Oz went
platinum, resulting in the hits Human
Touch and Affair of the Heart. The follow
ing year, his single Love Somebody from
the soundtrack album to the movie Hard to
Hold (in which Springfield made his big
screen debut) hit No. 5 on the Billboard
singles chart.
After years of live performances, gru
eling tour schedules and recording back-
to-back hit albums with chart-topping
singles, Springfield decided to take a
break to spend time with his family when
his first son was bom in 1985.
During his hiatus, he released the
albums Rock of Life and Sahara Snow. He
returned to the concert stage in 1998 with
the release of his album Karma. He imme
diately was performing to sold-out crowds.
Springfield hit the ground running in
2005 by releasing The Day After Yester
day, a collection of his own interpretations
of hit songs he wishes he had written.
He ended 2005 with his long-anticipated
return to General Hospital in the same role
he originated nearly 25 years ago. He con
tinues to make appearances on the show.
In 2006, Springfield released a con
cert DVD, Live in Rockford, which was
filmed live as part of the HDNet Concert
Series at the historic Coronado Theatre
in Rockford, Ill., and showcases his
extremely high energy performances.
He attracts new fans wherever he goes
with his unique brand of audience inter
action, unstoppable energy and unforget
table songs that have become part of the
soundtrack to people’s lives.

from $20 to $35.
Country star Vince Gill will play two
shows on Oct. 14-15 at Chinook Winds.
Gill will perform the songs that got
him noticed, including When I Call Your
Name, and hits off of his groundbreaking
four-CD collection entitled These Days,
released in 2006.
Gill started playing in high school
with a bluegrass group. After graduating
in 1975 he continued performing with
bluegrass and country groups, among
them the Ricky Skaggs Band, until 1983
when he signed with RCA records.
He moved his family to Nashville to
follow his dream of being a country music
star. In 1987, he achieved his first top-five
single, Cinderella, from his album The
Way Back Home.
The song peaked at No. 2 and earned
Gill his first CMA Award (Single of the
Year) and his first Grammy Award (Best
Male Country Vocal Performance) in 1990.
The next single, Never Knew Lonely,
peaked at No. 3 and the album was certi
fied platinum by the Recording Industry
Association of America for sales of more
than one million copies.
Gill has sold more than 26 million
albums. He has earned 18 CMA Awards,
including Entertainer of the Year in 1993
and 1994. He is tied with George Strait for
having won the most CMA Male Vocalist
Awards (five) and currently is second only
to Brooks and Dunn for accumulating
the most CMA Awards in history. He has
received 19 Grammy Awards to date, the
most of any male country artist.

Opry. In August 2007, the Country Music
Association inducted him into the coveted
Country Music Hall of Fame.

his career. An avid golfer, he helped create
the annual Vince Gill Pro-Celebrity Invi
tational Golf Tournament (“The Vinny”)
in 1993 in order to help support junior golf
programs throughout Tennessee.
