Chinook Winds Casino Resort will host the inaugural Run for Honor 5K on
Sept. 24 at 9 a.m.
This is one of the many events scheduled at Chinook Winds to honor all veterans
of the Armed Forces, active duty personnel and their families as part of the annual
citywide Celebration of Honor event on Sept. 22-25.
The 5K run and walk is on a challenging up-and-back course between Chinook
Winds Casino and Chinook Winds Golf Resort, both owned and operated by the
Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians. The course is not for the faint of heart but is
demanding in order to honor those service men and women who live to serve and
protect our country.
The finish will lead the runners onto the Field of 1,000 Flags overlooking the
Pacific Ocean directly north of the casino.
Awards will be given for top female and male finisher, age groups and veteran/
active duty personnel. Veterans and active duty personnel will be honored and also
will receive a free gift upon picking up their race packets.
Pre-registration for the event is $30 and includes a T-shirt. Registration after Sept. 1
and on race day is $40. Online registration is available at chinookwindscasino.com.
