Head Start students visit Play Palace
On Feb. 8, students from Siletz Tribal Head Start in Lincoln City paid a visit to the
Play Palace at Chinook Winds Casino Resort. Corliss Attebury, Play Palace employee
and Tribal Elder, suggested the field trip to help spread the word within the community
that the facility is open to everyone, not just for parents who are guests at the casino.
Eleven students came to visit. While some of the children enjoyed the electronic
games (Play Station, The Cube, V-Smile and WII Systems), others used up some energy
by playing in stocking feet on the play structure or with the giant trucks and LEGOs.
Everyone had the opportunity to explore the kitchen, doll and work bench areas,
followed by a healthy snack of popcorn and juice or water.
“We were extremely excited to have the children come visit and become acquainted
with what we have to offer,” said Carol Clark, Play Palace/Arcade manager. “We sent
them home with Valentine packages filled with a pencil, eraser, M&Ms and candy
Valentine hearts. A fun time was had by all and we hope that they will return.”
The Play Palace offers a secure and safe environment for children age 3-11. They
must be fully potty trained (no diapers or pull-ups) and be able to go to the bathroom
by themselves.
Children are required to have clean socks to wear while at the Play Palace. Socks
are available for purchase if needed. A mandatory head lice check is completed upon
check-in for the health and safety of all children.
The Play Palace is open to anyone in need of a safe environment for their child
during the hours of 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 7 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.,
Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Holiday hours may vary.
