Funny Man Tim Conway Brings Haiti Relief Fund—Chinook Winds Award-Winning Humor to the Beach Employees Step Up to Help The very funny Tim Conway will bring his inventive and improvised style of com edy to Chinook Winds on March 5-6. Conway is best known for his years on the award winning The Carol Burnett Show, where he won five Emmys and one Golden Globe in his 11 years on the show. His movie career has included star ring roles in The Apple Dumpling Gang, The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again, The Shaggy DA, Dear God and The World's Greatest Athlete. Conway wrote and starred in They Went That Way and That Way and The Long Shot. He also appeared in Speed II, The Bil lion Dollar Hobo and The Prize Fighter. His stage career includes 182 perfor mances as Felix in The Odd Couple. He also starred in Just For Laughs and toured 130 performances of A Day With Gates and Mills, which he wrote. Show time is 8 p.m. Tickets range from $20 to $35. Several inquiries were made by team members about donating to the Haiti Relief Fund. Chinook Winds executive staff developed a plan to enable employees to help out in the easiest way possible. Those team members who wanted to voluntarily contribute through a payroll deduction method had the following options: • • They could designate a specific amount of PTO (paid time off) hours they could “sell" for the cause. They could designate a specific dollar amount to be deducted from their paycheck. The minimum amount allowed for deduction purposes was $5. Payroll deductions were honored through Feb. 22, 2010. Donations will be made through Oxfam America (www.oxfamamerica.org) Chinook Winds agreed to make a matching donation for all funds gathered up to $10,000. Gross amount donated through payroll deduction as of Feb. 17 was $1,971.35. Comedy on the Coast Showcases Weekend of Laughs at Life Jeff Wayne headlines Comedy on the Coast at Chinook Winds on March 26-27. Joining Wayne in this weekend of laughs are Cork Proctor and Wes Canon. Jeff Wayne has been described as having a face like Fred Flintstone and an attitude like Al Bundy. He has been celebrated in such diverse publications as the Lo.s Angeles Times, Washington Post and New York Times not just for being funny, but for having amazing audience communication. A divorced father of three. Wayne uses his life experiences to relate to the audi ence’s funny bone. Cork Proctor captures the attention of even the most preoccupied executives and sends audiences spinning. These talents propelled him to be dubbed by former Speaker of the House Tip O'Neal as the “Roastmaster General of the United States.” Comedian, actor, emcee, game show host and master roaster - Proctor has an encyclopedic memory for names, details and places that enables him to engage audi ence members on current affairs and pertinent subjects. Wes Canon's creative material and his ability to connect with the audience also have kept him busy on the road. His material covers a wide range of topics, from cur rent events to real-life situations. He discusses the adventures of his married life, family life and life in post-Katrina New Orleans. His opinions may be wrong, they may be right, but at least they’re funny. Show time is 8 p.m. Tickets are $15. Get All Shook Up with the Ultimate Elvis® Tribute Artist Contest The legacy of Elvis Presley lives on at Chinook Winds on April 23-25 as Elvis tribute artists from across the United States and the Pacific Northwest compete to see who best captures the essence of the King of Rock-‘n’-Roll. Contestants in the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest at Chinook Winds will be judged on the “best representation of the Elvis legacy" in talent, appearance, perfor mance, stage presence and overall tribute. The winner will go on to compete in the 2010 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest semi-finals in Memphis during Elvis Week in August. The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest at Chinook Winds is officially licensed by Elvis Presley Enterprises, Inc. Don't miss this fun and unique opportunity to see some of the best Elvis tribute artists perform live on stage in the Chinook Winds convention center. Four rounds of competition will take place over the three days. Tickets are only $10 per round and are on sale now. The competition begins April 23 with round one at 8 p.m. On April 24, there will be two rounds, with one at 2 p.m. and the other at 8 p.m. The final round will take place April 25 at 3 p.m. Doors to the venue open 30 minutes prior to each round. This is an age-21-and- older ticketed event with a no-host bar and food court. During each round of the competition, one member of the audience will win a trip for two to watch the semi-finals and finals of the 2010 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest in Memphis this August.
