Gilbert Named Superstar Employee at Chinook Winds Midge Gilbert of Lincoln City, an employee of Chinook Winds Golf Re sort, has been selected as Chinook Winds Casino Resort’s Superstar for the fourth quarter of 2009. In recognition of her accomplish ment, Gilbert was presented with a check for $1,000. A marble tile plaque engraved with her name will be displayed at the front entrance to the casino. Gilbert is the first Siletz Tribal mem ber to be honored with this award since its inception. Tribal Elders, staff of the Siletz Tribal Gaming Commission, Chinook Winds directors and selected staff attended the Superstar ceremony. Other employees nominated for this award included James Hoover, Michael Blacketer, Treva Rush, Gretchen Web- berly and Justin Redfearn. One-, five- and 10-year employees also were recognized for their service to the resort. From the 800 Chinook Winds em ployees, only a few are selected to receive this honor each year. To be eligible, an employee must perform his or her duties at a high standard of excellence on a consis tent basis and must exhibit a dedication to internal and external customer service. Once an individual is nominated by casino staff or guests, the nomination must pass several reviews before the final selection. 14 Nominations It’s apparent from Gilbert’s 14 nomi nations that both guests and co-workers think she exemplifies the essence of a Superstar - “She cares!”; “One of the happiest employees I’ve ever seen!”; “She makes me feel at home.”; “More employ ees should have her attitude!” “After the loss of a long-time co worker, she took it upon herself to honor him on each hole, allowing some of the members to participate, which was very special.”; “Her cheerful attitude makes me teel good also!”; “She has the highest standards.”; “I look forward to her coming to work.
