Evan Davis headlines Comedy on the
Coast at Chinook Winds on July 24-25,
Rides and More at Smokin’ at the

Davis gained momentum in San
Francisco as he established himself as
a headlining comedian in the Bay Area.
He became a finalist in San Francisco’s
hotly contested 10lh Annual Comedy
Competition and attracted the attention
of Hollywood’s talent purveyors.
Davis was invited onto Ed McMa
hon’s syndicated show, Star Search, where
he made eight appearances, including the
finals. He has since made more than 40
television appearances, including Evening
at the Improv, Fox network’s Comic Strip
Live and PBS’s Comedy Tonight.
Most recently, Davis was seen as
a regular performer on NBC’s Tonight
Show with Jay Leno. He is a frequent
headliner at the Comedy and Magic Club
in Hermosa Beach and is the founder
of a comedy writing consortium called
Headwriters.
Van Dyke emerged from the San
Francisco comedy scene in the ’80s and
quickly became a fixture on the nightclub
circuit. The winner of several major com
edy competitions, he has headlined across
the United States, appeared on network
and cable television, performed with mu
sical acts such at The Pointer Sisters and
The Neville Brothers, and entertained our
Armed Forces serving overseas.

nightclubs and corporate events as well
as teaches his popular comedy classes in
Sacramento, Calif.
Lizaola left his small town at age 23
to pursue a career in standup comedy.
He landed in Seattle from Gilroy, Calif.,
where he was given his first shot at the
world-famous Comedy Underground.
His unique comedy style keeps audiences
laughing throughout the show.
He has opened for Alonzo Bodden,
Chris Brown and the Black Eyed Peas.
Show time is 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.

Safety Fair Joins Festivities
If safety is what you are looking for, don’t miss the Safety Fair on July 10 from
noon to 6 p.m. in the upper parking area of Chinook Winds. North Lincoln Fire &
Rescue will have a fire truck and water rescue vehicles on site to give kids of all ages
a tour of what these safety vehicles can do.
The police department’s DARE officer will hand out children’s bike helmets while
supplies last, talk about bike safety and provide fingerprinting kits.
Siletz Fire and Rescue will have a model home and will hold show kids and their
parents how to plan safe escape routes from their homes. Other sponsors include the Poi
son Control Center, Fish and Wildlife, Coast Guard, City of Lincoln City and M ADD.
This year, Chinook Winds has added carnival rides for kids of all ages. Carnival
hours on July 9-10 run from noon to 10 p.m., on July 11 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and
on July 12 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost for rides is $1 per ticket or $19 for a 24-
ticket book. Rides are 3-4 tickets each.
There is no charge for admission to attend this family event. Event hours for
Smokin’ at the Ocean BBQ & Brewfest are July 11 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and July
12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This year s Smokin at the Ocean Barbecue & Brew Fest is making a triumphant
return to Chinook Winds on July 11-12.
Barbecue vendors with some of the best the Pacific Northwest has to offer and a
brewfest will keep you coming back for more, as will the live music band showcase
with bands from around the state. The return of the nationally sanctioned rib eating
contest rounds out a fun-packed family weekend.
The nationally sanctioned Competitive Rib Eating Championship, with a top prize
of $ 1,500, is back. Locals can earn a chance to battle the experts by competing in the
regional amateur eating contest where 15 amateur spots are up for grabs.
Competitors must sign up by 5 p.m. on July 11 with a $20 entry fee. The top four
finishers will take on the 2008 champion and No. 1 in the world of competitive eat
ing, Joey Chestnut, and other eaters like Richard LaFevre and Erik Denmark from the
International Federation of Competitive Eaters Association on July 12 at 3 p.m.
Don't miss the media challenge July 11 at 3 p.m. where Chinook Winds will donate
to the chosen charity of the top three finishers. Proceeds from Smokin’ at the Ocean
also will be donated to a local charity.

Get All Shook Up with the Ultimate
Elvis®Tribute Artist Contest
The legacy of Elvis Presley lives on at Chinook Winds on July 10-12 when Elvis
tribute artists from across the United States and the Pacific Northwest will compete
to see who captures the essence of the King of Rock-‘n’-Roll.
Contestants in The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest will be judged on the
best representation of the Elvis legacy” in talent, appearance, performance, stage
presence and overall tribute. The winner will go on to compete in the semifinals of
the 2009 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest in Memphis during Elvis Week on
Aug. 8-16, 2009.
The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest is officially licensed by Elvis Presley
Enterprises Inc. and is one of more than 15 such contests and festivals throughout the
United States and Canada.
Don’t miss this fun and unique opportunity to see some of the best Elvis tribute
artists perform live on stage at the Chinook Winds Hotel Ballroom. In all, four rounds
of competition will take place over the three days. Tickets are only $10 per round and
are on sale now.
The competition begins July 10 with round one starting at 8 p.m. On July 11. two
rounds will take place with one starting at 2 p.m. and the other at 8 p.m. The final round will
take place July 12 at 3 p.m. Doors to the venue open 30 minutes prior to each round.
This is an age-21-and-older ticketed event with a no-host bar and food court.
During each round of the competition, one member of the audience will win a trip
for two to watch the semifinals and finals of the 2009 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist
Contest in Memphis this August.
