Cash Drawings, Amateur Boxing
and Concerts
Chinook Winds’ Beach Cam
is On the Air
The Chinook Winds beach cam made its debut May 1 on the Good Day Oregon
program on KPTV.
The beach cam is a small remote-controlled video camera mounted on the northwest
corner of the Chinook s Seafood Grill building. The camera can zoom into Cascade
Head or spin around to view the surf-line rocks to the south of the casino.
The accompanying photo shows an approximation of the northward view as seen
on KPTV. Those who watch KPTV in HDTV will see moving video very similar to
this frame and those with Standard Definition TV will see the picture without the blue
pillars on the left and right of the frame.
This shot will be used a minimum of 15 times per week within KPTV’s news
programs, a vivid reminder that “It’s Better at the Beach!”
This camera allows us to paint a picture for our valley customers when they’re fogged
in and we're sunny, or it’s 100 degrees in Portland and we’re at a comfortable 72, or when
we have one of our famous winter storms and the enormous breakers pound the beach

Joey Chestnut Returns to
Smokin’ at the Ocean
This year s Smokin at the Ocean Barbecue & Brew Fest is making a triumphant
return to Chinook Winds on July 11-12.
Barbecue vendors with some of the best the Pacific Northwest has to offer and a
brew fest will keep you coming back for more. A live music band showcase with bands
from around the state and the return of the nationally sanctioned rib eating contest
round out a fun-packed family weekend.
The nationally sanctioned Competitive Rib Eating Championship is back, with a top
prize of $ 1,500. And like last year, locals can earn a chance to battle the experts by com­
peting in the regional amateur eating contest where 15 amateur spots are up for grabs.
Competitors must sign up by 5 p.m. on July 11 with a $20 entry fee. The top four
finishers will take on the 2008 champion and No. 1 in the world of competitive eat­
ing, Joey Chestnut.

This year, Chinook Winds will celebrate its 14th anniversary all week long on
June 15-20.
Daily drawings for $ 1,400 will take place Monday through Saturday at 6 p.m., plus
a winner every half-hour from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for 14 entries for the major drawing
at 6 p.m. and $20 cash.
Don't miss tasty treats at the celebration. Cake will be served in the casino lobby
on June 19-20 starting at 2 p.m. until it’s gone. In addition to tasty treats, you won’t
want to miss the fireworks at 10 p.m. on June 20.
Another element of the celebration is the performance by country music star Billy
Ray Cyrus on June 19-20 at 8 p.m. (see article on page 22).
Rounding out the weekend is Battle at the Beach, Olympic-style amateur boxing
on June 20. Doors open at 5 p.m. and first bout starts at 6 p.m.
This amateur event is sanctioned by USA Boxing, the national governing body
for all amateur boxing in the United States. Battle at the Beach helps establish senior
youth boxing records for consideration as Olympic contenders.
This event is for the entire family. Tickets are affordably priced at $10 for general
admission and $20 for ringside seats or $25 for a family 4-pack.
Concessions will be available as will a beer garden to those age 21 and older.
Get All Shook Up with the Ultimate
Elvis®Tribute Artist Contest
The legacy of Elvis Presley lives on at Chinook Winds on July 10-12 when Elvis
tribute artists from across the United States and the Pacific Northwest will compete
to see who captures the essence of the King of Rock-‘n’-Roll.
Contestants in The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest will be judged on the
best representation of the Elvis legacy” in talent, appearance, performance, stage
presence and overall tribute. The winner will go on to compete in the semifinals of
the 2009 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest in Memphis during Elvis Week on
Aug. 8-16, 2009.
The Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest is officially licensed by Elvis Presley
Enterprises Inc. and is one of more than 15 such contests and festivals throughout the
United States and Canada.
Don’t miss this fun and unique opportunity to see some of the best Elvis tribute
artists perform live on stage at the Chinook Winds Hotel Ballroom. In all, four rounds
of competition will take place over the three days. Tickets are only $10 per round and
are on sale now.
The competition begins July 10 with round one starting at 8 p.m. On July II, two
rounds will take place with one starting at 2 p.m. and the other at 8 p.m. The final round will
take place July 12 at 3 p.m. Doors to the venue open 30 minutes prior to each round.
This is an age-21-and-older ticketed event with a no-host bar and food court.
During each round of the competition, one member of the audience will win a trip
for two to watch the semifinals and finals of the 2009 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist
Contest in Memphis this August.

Tri-Vision Billboard Advertises Chinook Winds
Chinook Winds’ upcoming events
now are prominently displayed on the
first tri-vision billboard in Oregon.
The new tri-vision billboard is located
on the north side of the road on Highway
18 where the Wax Works billboard was
just east of the Fort Hill restaurant.
A tri-vision billboard is a rotary sign
that allows up to three advertisements to
be placed on the same billboard at the
same time, each covering the full display
area. The sign changes, allowing each
advertisement to be visible for a specific
amount of time and making it possible to
relay three messages to travelers in place
of one.
Tri-vision billboards have proved
to increase sales and awareness over
static boards. The human eye is highly
attracted to movement and anything that
is unique.
When people catch a glimpse of
movement on a huge billboard, they
tend to take a second look at the sign
and because they are paying more at­
tention to the billboard, the readership
and recall rates are much higher than a
traditional billboard.
