statements.
Candidate's Statements: The Election Board now will be responsible for
accepting and approving all candidate's statements. We have chosen to adopt
many of the rules that govern statements in Siletz News. Statements will be lim
ited to 450 words and not contain any personal attacks. One photo (optional)
can be accepted with statements. Candidate's statements cannot be posted on
Tribal property.
Candidate's Fair: This year, the Candidate’s Fair will be held Dec. 14, 2008.
The fair was moved from January to December to encourage more participation
from the General Council. Hopefully, the weather will be mild enough to draw
Tribal members from outside of the Siletz area to attend.
This year, the Candidate's Fair will take place before the deadline to file tor
candidacy. The deadline to file for candidacy is Dec. 24 by 4 p.m. In order to
participate in the Candidate's Fair, you must be declared and certified by the
Election Board prior to Dec. 12 at 4 p.m.
Tribal members who plan on waiting until the last day to declare will not be
allowed to participate in the Candidate's Fair. The Candidate s Fair will be from
1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and mediated by the Election Board chairman.
Mise. Changes: The Election Board no longer will provide mailing labels
for candidates. All candidates will need to request and purchase their own from
the Enrollment Department.

October 2008
It comes once a year when Tribal members come together to elect their lead
ers. It's also once a year when everyone eligible can come together and voice
their opinion by voting. This year is no different.
We have at least 900 eligible not registered Tribal members who are missing
out on the opportunity to voice their opinions. This year, the Election Board has
a mission to get as many Tribal members registered as possible. We encourage
everyone to educate themselves on the candidates and the current issues that
affect our Tribe.
The Election Board also mailed out registration cards to Tribal members
who had cards already on file that were more than five years old. We already
have received more than half back - more than 350 in the last couple weeks.
That is awesome and we thank those who have updated their cards. This is
going to help the Election Board greatly with signature verifications. Great job,
everyone!
It you have any questions about Tribal elections, please feel tree to contact
any Election Board Member - Tracey Worman, Felicia Carmona or myself.
