Foreigner Returns with Top 10 Hits
Tickets are on sale now to see the
hit band Foreigner at Chinook Winds
on Oct. 17-18.
This legendary rock band will per­
form top 10 songs like Urgent, Double
Vision, I Want To Know What Love Is
and many more. You won't be able to
stay in your seat as they bring back old
memories and start some new ones
with their ever-popular songs.
Formed in 1976. the band was made
up of experienced British musicians
Mick Jones and Ian McDonald, and
four relative newcomers to the arena
of major rock, British musician Den­
nis Elliott and Americans Ed Gagliardi.
Lou Gramm and Alan Greenwood.
Less than a year after getting to­
gether. the six released their first album.
Foreigner (March 7. 1977) and within
months had two top 10 hit singles.
“We grew up in front of the public
and made all our mistakes in front of
crowds of kids,” says Dennis Elliott.
But despite the chaos, the music car­
ried them through and the fans didn't
seem to care.
“The problem at first.” says Lou
Gramm, “was that we only had 10
songs. When asked back by our audi­
ences to do an encore, we had nothing
else to play!”
This situation soon was remedied
when they went back to the studio to

and one lucky guest will win a limou­
sine wine tour for four to Eola Hills
Winery and dinner at the Rogue River
Steakhouse.

Double Vision (June 20. 1978). Once
again, they experienced surprising suc­
cess and two more top 10 singles, all
while their first album was still on the
national charts.
A year later their third album. Head
Gaines (Sept. 11, 1979), hit the charts
and produced two more hit singles.
Surrounded by controversy at the time
and considered a failure for the band.
Head Gaines went on to sell 5 million
copies in the U.S. alone.
In 2002. the 25th anniversary year
brought affirmation of the enduring re­
spect for Foreigner recordings with
Rhino Entertainment re-issuing the
1977-1981 multi-platinum albums in
special enhanced formats. Foreigner,
Double Vision, Head Games and 4 re­
ceived the loving attention of Rhino's
staff and bloomed again with new pho­
tos. liner notes and bonus tracks of pre­
viously unreleased material.
New Greatest Hits albums also were
produced in the U.S. and Europe. And
in 2001. the Warner Music Group se­
lected Foreigner and 4 to be among the
first group of albums from their cata­
log to be re-mastered, enhanced and
released in the new DVD audio format.
Show time is 8 p.m. Tickets range
from $20-$50.

Top Professional Female Billiards Players Return for
Pacific Coast Classic
Allison Fisher, Karen Corr and
Jeanette Lee will be among the top 64
female billiards players in the world
scheduled to appear in Lincoln City on
Oct. 1-5 as the ladies of the Women's
Professional Billiards Association
(WPBA) compete in the Pacific Coast
Classic Championship.
The tension will be high and the
playing will be tough. But for diehard
fans, recent admirers and those who are
just curious, this is an event that can t
be missed. This opportunity provides
those who watch the matches on ESPN
with the chance to see these ladies of
the felt live and in person.
It was a Fisher finale in 2007 with
Allison Fisher and Kelly Fisher going
head to head for the title. With ESPN
cameras rolling, the tension was high and
the crowd was on the edge of their seats.
The No. I player and the No. 5
player in the world had the crowd
cheering after each amazing shot was
played. It was a battle to get to the fi­
nals as the semifinal matches included
the top players in the world.
Semifinal No. 1 matched up Allison
Fisher and Jeanette Lee while semi­
final No. 2 paired Ga Young-Kim and
Kelly Fisher. Allison Fisher won the
final match 6 games to I for her eighth
WPBA championship title.
On Oct. I at 7 p.m., the Pro-Am
Celebrity Shootout will benefit My Sis­
ters’ Place, a local shelter for women
and children. At this pay-to-play event,
members of the public can bid to play
against or with one of the ladies of the
WPBA. Or just buy a ticket for $15 to
see media and celebrity teams paired
up with the top 16 players in the world.
All ticket and bid monies collected
will be donated to My Sister's Place. Last
year's shwtout event raised nearly $6.(MM).
