part of the greatest experiment in government democracy. Registering to vote

It comes once a year when Tribal members come together to elect their lead
ers. It’s also once a year when everyone eligible can come together and voice
their opinion by voting. This year is no different.
We have at least 900 eligible but not registered Tribal members. This year,
the Election Board has a mission to get as many Tribal members registered as
possible.
We encourage everyone to educate themselves on the candidates and the
current issues that affect our Tribe.
If you currently are not registered but are eligible to vote in Iribal elections,
the Election Board will soon mail out Registration Cards to all eligible not regis
tered Tribal members. We also will mail out Registration Cards to Iribal mem
bers who turn 18 on or before Election Day.
The Election Board also mailed out Registration Cards to Tribal members
who had cards already on file that were more than five years old. We already
have received more than halt back — more than 350 so lar.
That is awesome and we thank those who have updated their cards. This is going
to help the Election Board greatly with signature verifications. Great job. everyone!
If you have any questions about Tribal elections, please teel tree to contact
any Election Board member.
National Elections
If you haven’t noticed. Campaign 2008 is in full swing with both Republi
cans and Democrats. As Barack Obama and John McC ain vie to be the next
president, I encourage you to get educated on the current issues that affect not
only youth, but also the entire country.
This could single-handedly be the biggest election of our lifetime. The next
president will have some major issues to resolve as he comes into office, includ
ing a less than satisfactory economy, the current war in Iraq, an energy crisis
and global warming issues.
Youth in this country can have a huge impact on who becomes the next
president if we all become educated voters. In November, let our politicians
know that youth are out there and we care about the current issues that affect us.
Let them know we have a voice.
