CASINO RESORT
To the editor:
On behalf of Chinook Winds Casino Resort and the Confederated Tribes of
Siletz Indians, we want to present the opportunity to participate in our First An
nual Oregon Native Market. This event (on May 23-25, 2008) was created to
host authentic Native Products and Artisans from across the country with a focus
on the Northwest. We are asking for your participation in a number of ways.
First, please spread the word amongst your Tribe regarding this terrific and
cost-effective opportunity to present their products and creations. We are offer
ing booth space for only $25 per 10X10 space for the weekend. In addition,
Chinook Winds Casino Resort will be hosting a Native show starring the incred
ibly talented Robert Mirabal in celebration of Oregon Indian Week.
The second opportunity to participate is as an attendee. Even if you are not
exhibiting, we want you to celebrate with us over the weekend. Please come and
support your fellow Tibal artists and craftsman and spread the word!
Last but not least, please assist us in making contact with those whom you
think would make a great fit for this event. While we are very active in contact
ing Tribal Vendors, we know there are more out there that we don’t know about.
Thank you for your time in reading this letter as we look forward to speak
ing with you in person. Hope to see you where "It’s Better at the Beach.”
Best Wishes,

Dear Valued Partner:
1 am writing to let you know that, effective May 30, 2008, the Oregon Depart
ment of Human Services is implementing a tobacco-free campus policy at approxi
mately 50 worksites. The policy will apply to all employees, clients, and visitors at
those locations. As a valued DHS partner, we want to let you know about this change
well in advance and request your assistance in making this an easy transition.
The new policy initially will prohibit the use of all tobacco products in any
DHS building and surrounding campus wholly owned or leased by DHS. As we
renew leases al other locations, the policy will be extended to those sites as well.
Eventually all DHS campuses will be tobacco-free.
We hope you share our enthusiasm about this change. Through it we are
creating healthier environments for ourselves and our visitors, and are serving
as examples of the healthy behaviors we encourage in others. We also are work
ing with other state agencies as they consider adopting similar policies.
We have worked diligently to ensure the success of this policy. Most of our
recent efforts have been focused on preparing employees by educating them about
the policy and launching a quit campaign. However, we want to make certain
that people working with DHS also are prepared for the policy change. We have
cessation resources. We encourage you to make use of this information and to
share it with others. To access these resources, go to www.dhs.state.or.us/tobfree.
Thank you for your support as DHS takes a big step toward a healthier DHS
and a healthier Oregon.
Sincerely,
Bruce Goldberg, M.D.
Director
