Education Happenings
Warm Springs youth at dinner during Salmon C amp
Salmon Camp
Tribal Programs 2 staff hosted
youth age 11-14 and ehaperones from
the Confederated Tribes of Warm
Springs for a day and a halt ot Salmon
Camp in Siletz. The camp was funded
by the U. S. Corps of Engineers through
a grant to Warm Springs.
While in our area, the group vis­
ited the Hatfield Marine Science Cen­
ter. the tribal fish hatchery and a Feather
Dance. George Nagel. Janet Wickland
and Walt Klamath instructed the youth
at the ropes course.
The group also camped on the Tribal
Community Center grounds one
evening, served meals by Programs 2
staff, Mona Fisher. Felicia Carmona
and accompanied by several Siletz
youth and Levi Simmons.

Graduating students at the Annual Student Gathering with Tribal Council

Annual Student Gathering
The Siletz Tribal Education Com­
mittee and education specialists hon­
ored the 2007 graduates with a barbe­
cue at the Hee Hee lllahee RV Resort
in Salem, Ore., on June 21, 2007. Nick
Sixkiller was the emcee for this event.
Students attending included Heidi
Hibdon. Nonna Trefren, Rebecca Sanders.
Sophie Kaady, Cliff Higgins, James Smith,
Michelle McKelvey, Samantha Hatfield,
Kent
Rilatos,
Bonnie Trefren
and Aaron McClin­
tock. Family and
friends also ac­
companied the
students.
Graduates received a gift of a tribal
duffel bag from the Education Commit­
tee - Caroline Easter, Angela Ramirez
and Vai Hibdon, plus a travel stipend.
The following Tribal Council mem­
bers were present: Jessie Davis, Bud
Lane, Lillie Butler and Reggie Butler Sr.
Staff members included Katy Kaady,
Sonya Moody-Jurado, Alissa Lane,
Nick Sixkiller and Bev Youngman.
Kent Rilatos is
a student at
Ashford
University.
