Easter Egg Hunt Draws Crowd
Nothing stops these Oregon chil
dren from searching for them - Easter
eggs from the Easter bunny - wearing
rain boots, raincoats, and some even
had on sandals and flip-flops.
The annual Easter egg hunt drew
approximately 200 people for this fun
Saturday morning on Government Hill.
Years ago, we had the annual hunt and
there for a few years our community
didn’t have one. So Bev Youngman,
our fearless program manager, picked
up the ball and asked her staff to once
again have the Easter egg hunt for our
community youth.
There were many lil Easter egg art
ists on the tribal staff who gladly took
eggs home to decorate, approximately
1,200 of them, not counting all the
candy-filled plastic eggs.
Then we had a raffle where every
child received a prize. Each child left
happy and with the greatest of smiles.
Big thanks to the Education and
Cultural departments!

The Siletz Tribal Community Emer
gency Response Team (CERT) training
classes began April 26, but you're still
welcome to join these weekly meetings
on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. at the Siletz
Fire Hall.
Tribal members are encouraged to
participate in the training sponsored by
the Siletz Tribe.
The CERT program goals are to
promote emergency preparedness, de
velop skills to respond to and cope with
the aftermath of a disaster, and develop
neighborhood self-sufficiency before,
during, and after a natural or man
made disaster.
Topics taught and completed by the
participants included disaster prepared
ness. disaster fire suppression, disaster
medical operations, light search and
rescue, terrorism, disaster psychology,
CERT organization, and the final drill.
CERT graduates now have the
knowledge, skills, and abilities to not
only help their family be better pre
pared for emergencies, but also to as
sist their neighborhood in becoming
better prepared to take action when
Siletz is threatened by a major emer
gency or disaster.
CERT members will maintain and
refine their skills by participating in ex
ercises and activities. They can attend
supplemental training opportunities
offered by the Siletz Fire Department.
CERT opportunities also are avail
able in other areas of Lincoln County,
with teams in Newport, Lincoln City,
and Toledo.
Citizens interested in CERT train
ing courses can obtain more informa
tion by calling me at 541-444-8298 or
1-800-922-1399. ext. 1298. or by
sending an e-mail to deans@ctsi.nsn.us.

We appreciate the effort that all our
clients have made to get to their sched
uled appointments.
We hired a new warehouse aide at
the Salem site in March. She is a very
hard worker and we appreciate the great
help she provides. She is Grand Ronde
Tribal member Sasha McKnight and
she will be with us when we are dis-
tributing in Salem.

What do you believe are important
tribal transportation needs and concerns?
The state of Oregon grants us
$40,000 per year to help address spe
cial transportation needs. We have been
able to add two handicapped-accessible
vehicles to the tribe's fleet with these funds.
How do you think the tribe should
spend this annual grant in the future?
What other transportation needs are
important to you and to the tribe?
Planning Department staff will be
available to take your comments at a
special table at the General Council
meeting on May 5.
Please drop by this table and share
your thoughts; send your written com
ments to Tribal Planning. P.O. Box 549,
Siletz, OR 97380-0549; or speak with
Pam in Planning at 541-444-8361 or
