Siletz Charitable
Fund Distributes
$125,000
The Siletz Tribal Charitable Con
tribution Fund made another round of
distributions on Feb. 2 and the seven
member advisory board has distributed
more than $2.9 million since its incep
tion in 2001.
Thirty-one organizations shared
$125.026.10 in contributions when
checks were presented at Chinook
Winds Casino Resort in Lincoln City,
Ore. This includes $21,262 for South
Puget Sound Community College to
analyze more than 7,800 ancient wood
and fiber artifacts discovered on Sauvie
Island near Portland. Ore.; $20.000 for
the University of Oregon School of
Law/UofO Foundation for the Oregon
Tribes Professorship to boost scholar
ship. research, public service, and aca
demic offerings in Indian law; $12,000
for the Seal Rock Fire District to pur
chase a Zoll M-Series heart monitor;
and $12,000 for the Coastal Commu
nities Cultural Center to help restore the
east entrance of the former DeLake
Elementary School building,
The Siletz Tribe is proud of its con
tributions through employment, mon
etary donations, and cooperative mea
sures to the Siletz community, Lincoln
County, and the state of Oregon. The
tribe has honored its tradition of shar
ing within the community by distrib
uting more than $5.1 million through
the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribu
tion Fund and other tribal resources.
Chinook Winds has donated more than
$1.25 million in cash and fund-raising
items since it opened in 1995. The ca
sino also provides in-kind donations of
convention space for various fund-rais
ers as well as technical support, adver
tising. and manpower for many events.
Eligibility for money from the
Charitable Contribution Fund is limited
to two categories:

Entities and activities located in the
Siletz Tribe’s I I-county service
area (Lincoln. Tillamook, Linn,
Lane, Benton, Polk, Yamhill,
Marion, Multnomah, Washington,
and Clackamas counties)
Native American entities and activi
ties located anywhere in the United
States

applications is March 16. 2097.

University of Oregon Law School/UofO Foundation - Oregon Tribes Professorship to
