Sprint and Chinook Winds Embarq
on New Adventure
Chinook Winds Casino Resort is
proud to have been selected to share
in the announcement of Embarq, sepa
ration of the local company from Sprint
Nextel, as the newest member of the
New York Stock Exchange. They have
also been named to the S&P 500.
At the New York Stock Exchange
on June 1, Delores Pigsley, chairman of
the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indi
ans, helped ring the opening bell when
local Sprint Company became Embarq.
Christopher Miller, account man
ager for Sprint Business Sales, presented
the nomination for a number of reasons.
“Chinook Winds and Sprint have
enjoyed a long-term relationship. Even
when we (Sprint) don't earn the busi
ness, they at least afford us the oppor
tunity to try. We enjoy the honest, open
communication - Chinook Winds is a
true partner,” said Miller.
“We are very excited about being
chosen to be apart of this major milc-
stone with Sprint and celebrating the
listing of Embarq on the New York
Stock Exchange. We have enjoyed the
professional relationship with Sprint
and the outstanding customer service
that they have provided us throughout
the years. Based on our past experi
ence with Sprint, we are sure that
Emparq is destined for success,” said
Jim Kikumoto, general manager of Chi
nook Winds.
Chinook Winds Casino Resort was
selected from all Sprint Nextel business
customers in the Western Region. This
is the first time a company from the
Northwest has been invited to an event
of this caliber.
Chinook Winds, along with an
other Pacific Northwest customer from
Seattle, represented the Pacific North
west in New York City. The Western
region includes Oregon, Washington,
Texas, Wyoming, Nebraska. Minne
sota, and Missouri.
Cheryl Ben represented Chinook Winds and the Siletz Tribe at the Rose
Festival Parade in June. Chinook Winds is a part of (he Executive Officers
Club and Cheryl rode on the club ’s float dressed in traditional regalia.
