On June 27, the
elders had a barbeque
at the Siletz Tribal
Community Center. It
was a fun day with
relay games in the sun
and good food.
The relay game
prizes were provided
by the Elder Council
funds. The elders
feasted on steak,
boneless pork ribs,
shrimp kabobs, and
crab salads, with all
the trimmings to go
along with great
barbequed foods.
Dessert consisted of mixed fresh berries
and bananas on angel food cake and
root beer floats.
We ended the activities by playing
bingo. Chinook Winds donated prizes
for the bingo games. Fifty elders
attended, along with 10 volunteers and
three staff people. Everyone working
together made this a very fun and
successful event.
Sister Francella s team of Kay Steele,
Dennis Lane, and Kathryn Dick
shows off its balloon-stuffing
technique at the elders’ barbeque.

The Siletz Elders met at the Tribal
Community Center on June 8 to learn
to make beaded brooches. Liz John
taught the class for the 10 elders who
took part. We had another class July 15
to finish the brooches.
Classes also were held at the Salem
and Portland area offices on July 20.
