“The foundations want to see
evidence of local support,” said Sally
Jennings, SVFOL president, “so this
substantial contribution from CTSI will
be extremely helpful in leveraging
additional funding.”
The Siletz Tribe is proud of its
contributions through employment,
monetary donations, and cooperative
measures to the Siletz community and
Lincoln County as a whole. The tribe
has honored its tradition of sharing
within the community by distributing
nearly $3.1 million through the Siletz
Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund
and other tribal resources.
Chinook Winds Casino Resort,
owned and operated by the Siletz Tribe,
has donated more than $450,000 in cash
and fund-raising items since it opened
in 1995. The casino also provides in-
kind donations of convention space for
various fund-raisers as well as technical
support, advertising, and manpower for
many events.
The new library building in Siletz
will include a 3,600-square-foot library
and a 600-square-foot program room.

This room will be accessible for classes
and community and private functions
even when the library is closed.
The new library will feature
modem computer access, a small group
study room, an expanded children’s
area, display cases, a community
bulletin board and pamphlet rack, plus
room to expand the library’s existing
collection of more than 15,000 books,
books-on-tape, and videos.
The city of Siletz has donated a
20,000-square-foot lot next to the Siletz
Post Office for the new building.
The current library building was
built in the 1960s and was not intended
as a permanent structure. It is over
crowded, has no insulation or founda
tion, and is permeated with dry rot.
SVFOL has grown to 150 members;
new members and donors are welcome.
Membership and donor information is
available at the Siletz Post Office and
the Siletz Public Library or by calling
541-444-2855.
Donations to the Library Building
Fund can be sent to SVFOL, P.O. Box
130, Siletz, OR 97380.
