Guidelines Available for 2005-2006 Oregon Blue
Book Cover Photo Contest
Entrants: Open to amateur photo
graphers of any age who are Oregon
residents.
Entries: Photographs must be
original prints taken by the entrant
and may not have been previously
published. A negative must be made
available upon request.
Content: The cover shall be a color
photograph that represents or typifies
some aspect of Oregon. Scenes, land
scapes, and activities are acceptable.
Special consideration will be given to
photos with a Native American theme.
People, animals, structures, etc. also
may be included.
Dimensions: Photographs submit
ted for the cover photo contest must be
color 4" by 6" or 5" by 7" prints. The
photograph must have -a vertical
(portrait) orientation.
Identification: All images must
be accompanied by an entry form
available in PDF online at www.
bluebook.state.or.us. The print must be
marked with or have attached the name
and telephone number of the entrant.
Information about the photograph
should include location, date taken, and
any other relevant information that
would be useful in writing a caption.
Deadline: Entries must be post
marked by Oct. 5, 2004. The winner
will be notified on or before Jan. 31,
2005. Send entries to Blue Book Editor,

All entries will become part of
the Archives Division’s permanent
collection of Oregon photographs. No
entries will be returned. Selected entries
may be exhibited at the Archives
Building following publication of the
2005-2006 Oregon Blue Book.
Judging: A committee designated
by Secretary of State Bill Bradbury will
select the winning photograph.
Winners: A brief description of the
winning photo and photographer will
be published in the Blue Book. The
winner will be invited to the secretary
of state’s news conference announcing
the release of the book. Winners will
be notified by phone or mail on or
before Jan. 31, 2005.
Other Uses: Photographs submitted
to the cover photo contest but not selected
for the cover may be chosen for use
elsewhere in the Blue Book, with full
credit given to the photographer.
Forty to 45 black-and-white
historical pictures are needed for the
2005-2006 Oregon Blue Book
“section” pages. These black-and-white
photos must be submitted by Aug. 1,
2004. Use the same forms.

WASHINGTON - The Indian Arts
and Crafts Board (IACB), an agency of
the U.S. Department of the Interior,
recently announced the opportunity to
be listed in the updated version of its
Source Directory of American Indian
and Alaska Native Owned and
Operated Arts and Crafts Businesses.
Organized by state, the directory
includes federally recognized American
Indian and Alaska Native artists and
craftspeople; cooperatives; tribal arts
and crafts enterprises; businesses
privately owned and operated by
federally recognized American Indian
and Alaska Native artists, designers, and
craftspeople; and businesses privately
owned and operated by American
Indian and Alaska Native merchants
who retail and/or wholesale authentic
Indian and Alaska Native arts and crafts.
Upon compilation, the directory
will be inserted into a 13-page publi
cation that shows the variation and
complexity of both contemporary and
traditional American Indian and Alaska
Native art. The publication will be avail
able for sale to the public and serve as
a direct link between the arts and crafts
businesses and prospective customers.
Although applicants are not
required to have a shop location readily
available to the public, the business must
be prepared to complete sales through
mail order or a comparable method.
The service is available only to
individuals who are enrolled members
of federally recognized Indian Tribes
or Alaska Native groups. Applicants
must provide a copy of tribal enrollment
documentation from his or her respec
tive tribe or group. The listing is free.
