    TRIBAL PROGRAM NEWS
Over-Income Housing Grants
Again Available
Tribal Council has once again
provided the Housing Department with
$200,000 through the EPR program to
fund 40 over-income families with a
$5,000 grant for construction rehabili
tation on the primary residence they
own or families who have possessor
rights to their home.
Over-income refers to tribal
members whose income exceeds the
income requirements for other tribal
housing rehabilitation programs with
the exception of the IHS Elders
Emergency Assistance Program.
Rehabilitation refers to repairs or
renovations to the home, but does not
include appliances, saunas, hot tubs,
swimming pools, etc. Please contact the
Housing Department at 1-800-922-1399,
ext. 1322, or 541-444-8322 should you
require additional clarification.
If you are a Siletz Tribal member
and have not received an over-income
grant in the last six years, you can call
the Housing office to request an
application, come by the Housing office
and ask for an application, or visit any
local area office and they will provide
you with an application.
The selection process will be a lottery
drawing of applications received this
year because there is no waiting list. All
applicants, successful or not, will be
notified in writing.
If you have any questions, please
call 1-800-922-1399, ext. 1322, or
541-444-8322.

The USDA staff would like to thank
all the people who came in to help with
our commodity transfer in May. It was
a very busy and sad time for all of us
and we needed to get 9,719 pounds (to
be exact) palletized to go to Salem
for distribution.
We would like to thank Jerry, Kelly,
and Jerome Marzan and Big Jack and
Jessie Cordova for all .your help. And
Jessie, a really big thanks forthose great
quesadillas, peanut butter and jelly
sandwiches, and the really good iced tea
that you went home and made for us.
I hope I didn’t work you guys too
hard and you’ll come back. We transfer
at least 10,000 pounds to Salem every
month, you know.
Thanks you, guys.

TLC Attitudes of Gratitude
Since spring has sprung with a
vengeance, bringing with it the burst of
growth in weeds as well as desired
vegetation, we at TLC and the A&D
Department are very grateful for the
youth JOBS program.
We are grateful to CTSI and DeAnna
Pearl for making this service available
to us. We appreciate so much the labor
that Sam Hall, Dell Hall, and Joe
Luledjian have provided to beautify and
clean up overgrown vegetation by
pulling weeds, clipping blackberry
vines, and laying bark dust.
There is a long ways to go, but it
looks great already. These guys have
been an impressive team, working
together and following direction.
We also have some donors to be
grateful to: Sue Eatherley for paper
towels and toiletries, Alice McCain for
bedding plants to fill flower beds, and
duly 2004
the Culture Department for miscel
laneous items.
We are always appreciative of our
TLC volunteers. We couldn’t do this
program without them: Linda Tough,
Jackie Ashley, Alice McCain, Joan
Hartung, Lisa Brown, Brycann
Mickey, and Selene Rilatos.
If you are interested in volun
teering, please call 541-444-8238 or
1 -800-922-1399, ext. 1238, and ask for
Lynn. We are in need of women, clean
and sober or in recovery, who are
willing to spend one or more nights a
month/week, talk with residents, and
sleep in the most comfortable bed in
the Siletz Valley. Give a call to get
involved in rewarding work.
We are accepting donations of bed
ding plants, potting soil, and garden tools,
if you have an extra shovel or pruner
lying around. Have a beautiful spring!
