Miss Siletz Runs for Miss Indian
World Title
I, Tiffany Dawn Stuart, Miss Siletz
2003-2004, will compete for the title
of Miss Indian World 2004-2005. The
talent presentation pageant will be held
April 22, 2004, in Albuquerque, N.M.
During the Gathering of Nations
Pow-Wow (April 23-24), I will partic
ipate in many events as a Miss Indian
World contestant.
My family and I will be selling
raffle tickets for the mandatory
participation in the Miss Indian World
Pageant. Please contact me at

represent the Confederated Tribes of
Siletz Indians of Oregon. The price of

Cheney Chrisman would like to
help her parents, Shannon and Steve
Chrisman, welcome their new
daughter and her new sister, Ella
Karynn Chrisman, into the world.
Ella was born at 8:10 a.m. on
Dec. 24, 2003, in Corvallis, Ore. She
weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and was
20° inches long at birth.
Brianna Danae Marzan
Proud parents are Jerome Marzan
and Stephanie Guzman. Grandparents
are Kelly Marzan and Rosemary Medina.
SVS Names Students of the Month
Students at Siletz Valley School were honored in December for their good
citizenship, academic improvement, and positive behavior. Teachers were asked
to choose as many students as they thought deserve an award. Some students
received two awards because the PE teacher also selected them.

Howard Buffett and Agnes Baker-Pilgrim
Elder Honored as Indigenous
Leader
Agnes Baker-Pilgrim joined
Howard Buffett at the 2003 Buffett
Award ceremony for Indigenous
Leadership in Conservation on Dec. 2,
2003, in Portland, Ore.
Agnes was honored and wrapped
in a Pendleton Rogue River Treaty
blanket. She was honored along with
other indigenous leaders. A few family
members and friends gathered with her
to honor her hard work and dedication.
Agnes, you are an inspiration to us all.

preservation efforts.
