It’s Happening at Chinook Winds in February...
by Teresa Simmons
Live, Love, Laugh with that
Special Valentine
This Valentine’s Day will be
something spectacular at Chinook
Winds Casino. With two great spots to
dine, standup from nationally known
comedians, and a safe and secure child
care center, a night out at Chinook
Winds Casino will help keep the
romance alive.
A delectable dinner on Valentine’s
Day can make an already special day
extraordinary. On the day reserved
especially for romantics, the Rogue
River Room and the Siletz Bay Buffet
offer delicious cuisine.
In the Rogue River Room, the
Sweetheart’s Special includes filet
mignon and lobster, soup or salad, and
a glass of champagne. To finish out the
enchanted evening, a divine dessert
created especially by our chefs is
complimentary. This ambrosial dinner
is $39.95 per person.
For diners who desire action in their
Valentine’s feast, the Siletz Bay Buffet
will offer a surf-and-turf action station
for $14.50 per person. That night, a
glass of champagne or sparkling cider
will be only $1.
Winners in love also could win
prizes. All dining guests get a chance
to choose a prize-winning chocolate
kiss from a bowl. Prizes include $25
in cash, dinners for two, decadent
chocolates, and much more.
Couples who laugh together, stay
together. At Chinook Winds’ Comedy
on the Coast, nationally known
comedians keep the night jovial with
their uproarious view of life. The
evenings’ featured comedian, Max
Alexander, has performed on The
Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and
Jay Leno. Two more top comedians are
included in the $12 ticket price. See
page 20 for details.
For parents looking forward to an
evening of gazing into each other’s
eyes, Chinook Winds’ Play Palace Child
Care offers peace of mind that your
family is safe and secure. Valentine’s
crafts and food specials will entertain
the kids; parents receive a beeper in case
they need to be reached at the casino.

Country Music Legend Kenny
Rogers Comes to Chinook Winds
Superstar Kenny Rogers will
perform at Chinook Winds Casino on
March 26-27.
Rogers has released 61 albums in
his illustrious career, with 19 going
platinum. Having sold more than 80
million records, Rogers is one of
music’s biggest crossover successes.
He’s received three Grammys, 11
People’s Choice awards, eight
Academy of Country Music awards,
and five Country Music Association
awards. Rogers has received Top

Radio & Records named him Top
Adult Contemporary Artist of the ’80s,
and Billboard Magazine gave him
the honor of the decade’s hottest
crossover star.
The awards are just icing on the
cake. It’s the huge body of work and
accomplishments that distinguish
Rogers from his contemporaries. A list
of his greatest hits includes some of the
best-known country songs around,
including Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love
To Town, Ruben James, Lucille, The
Gambler, Daytime Friends, She
Believes In Me, You Decorated My
Life, Lady, Don’t Fall In Love With A
Dreamer, We’ve Got Tonight, and his
most well-known duet, Islands In
The Stream.
With no signs of slowing down,
album No. 61, Back To The Well, was
recently released and includes duets
with Tim McGraw and Allison Kraus
as well as a song written by Dire Strait’s
Mark Knopfler.

both nights.
Hootie & The Blowfish
Hootie & The Blowfish to play
Chinook Winds
Hootie & The Blowfish, the hugely
successful quartet from South Carolina,
will perform at Chinook Winds Casino
on Feb. 27-28.
This Grammy Award-winning
group is best known for its 1994 debut
album, Cracked Rear View, which
helped it gamer the coveted Best New
Artist as well as Pop Duo/Group
awards. The album featured such hits
as Only Wanna Be With You, Hold My
Hand, and Let Her Cry, and was certified
platinum 16 times, tying Boston and
Alanis Morissette as the No. 1 best
selling debut album of all time.
One of the most commercially
successful adult contemporary groups
of the mid-‘90s, Hootie & The Blowfish
just released a self-titled album, the
group’s first in nearly five years, and
has recorded a re-make of the 1978 hit
single Goodbye Girl to accompany the
new TNT original film The Goodbye
Girl, starring Patricia Heaton
(Everybody Loves Raymond) and Jeff
Daniels. The Goodbye Girl premiered
on TNT in January.

now. Show time is 8 p.m. each night.
Sinbad Brings Uproarious
Comedy to Chinook Winds
The uproarious comedian Sinbad
will tell his real life stories and poke
fun at others at Chinook Winds Casino
on March 12-13.
After touring America on a self
proclaimed “Poverty Tour’’ (traveling
on a Greyhound bus, changing in
restaurant restrooms, and working for
meals), a stint on Star Search helped
raise Sinbad’s profile. Although he
never won, he was a finalist and
appeared on the show seven times.
This led him to his first pro
fessional break on The New Red Foxx
Show, playing Foxx’s son. Bill Cosby
also noticed Sinbad’s talents and cast
him on television’s A Different World,
where he spent four years.
Sinbad has hosted numerous TV
specials, including It’s Showtime at the
Apollo, Sinbad: Brain Damaged, and
several other HBO specials. His first
acting role was Necessary Roughness.
Parts in Coneheads and Meteor Man
followed before his first starring role in
Houseguest. His other films include
First Kid, J ingle All The Way, Homeward
Bound II, and The Cherokee Kid.
Tickets are $20 to $40 and are on
sale now. Showtime is 8 p.m. both nights.
