It’s Happening at Chinook Winds in September...

Comedy on the Coast Features Three Women
Comedy on the Coast is set for
Sept. 19-20, featuring a trio of
comedians in a 90-minute show. Kat
Simmons will be the opening act, with
Susan Rice as the featured comedian
and Pam Matteson as the headliner.
Kat Simmons is a veteran of the
national comedy club circuit. You may
have seen her at The Improv or Catch
A Rising Star, or on television’s
Comedy Channel, Fox’s Comedy
Tonight, or on Candid Camera. She has
opened for Tim Allen, Diane Ford, and
Kenny Rogers.
Simmons has a unique talent for
combining physical comedy with real-
life situations that everyone can relate
to. She’s been favorably compared to
the masters of the craft, Lucille Ball and
Carol Burnett. You may recognize
yourself in her material as she honestly
shares with the audience as though they
were all long-time friends. When not on
the road, she produces and hosts her own
show at The Carson Valley Inn in Minden,
Nev., called Comedy Night Live. She’ll
celebrate her 10th anniversary for this
popular home-based show this year.
Susan Rice is funny, familiar, and
female. People consider her part of the
family. Rice twists daily experiences so
that you walk away with a whole new
perspective on your own relatives.
Rice, a Pacific Northwest native,
began her comedy career in college. Her
love of performing arts began in San
Diego then on to Portland, Ore., where
she worked in banking and pursued
acting. She discovered comedy in a
little pub called the Leaky Roof Tavern
and from the moment she stepped on
stage, she knew she’d found her career.
For 15 years, she’s been a pro
fessional stand-up comedian and has
performed in every state of the union
and to every state of mind. Television
appearances include An Evening at the
Improv, Comedy Central, and Comedy
Club Network. Comedy club bookings
include Catch a Rising Star, The Ice
House, Indianapolis Comedy Con
nection, Igby’s, The Laff Stops, The
Improve, and The Laugh Factory.
After witnessing Pam Matteson's
hysterical vocal impressions and side
splitting stand-up comedy, one comes
away from her performance wondering
exactly which stage, film, or television
star she does not impersonate.
The multi-talented Matteson has
been bringing down the house with out
rageous imitations of some of show
business’ greatest legends, including a
duet by Judy Garland and Goldie Hawn
and a raucous rendition of Rock-A-Bye
Bahy by Whitney Houston. Matteson
doing Lauper doing Girls Just Want
To Whine is a classic, as is Cher’s up
roarious Tongue Aerobics (complete
with barbell!).
Matteson brings to each per
formance a powerful assortment of
legendary theatrical favorites such as
Liza Minelli, Bette Davis, Meryl Streep,
and Debra Winger, as well as musical
favorites Olivia Newton-John,
Bernadette Peters, Pat Benetar, and
Dionne Warwick.
She has appeared on The Tonight
Show, An Evening at the Improv, Comic
Strip Live, Fox’s Sunday Comics, and
Showtime’s Pair of Jokers.
Matteson brings us all the once and
future legends, the wild and wacky
women who have filled the screen for
the past 50 years. Just think of her as a
sexy, singing, one-woman film festival!
Doors open at 7:30 p.m.; show time
is 8 p.m. A no-host bar will be available.
Tickets, priced at $12, are available at
the box office.
Calvin and Joan Lewis win $20,000
in Keno on an 8-spot
on Aug. 5! Keno now has new
hours - 8 a.m. to midnight daily.
