News from the Field
Study finds lower math scores
among teen marijuana smokers: A new
study finds that high school students
friends have significant influence on
whether teen-age girls use drugs.
In the first study, researchers found
that teen-age girls who have a close
relationship with their mothers are less
likely to use drugs. A second study
found that girls who are close to older
friends who use drugs or engage in risky
behaviors are more likely to try drugs.

A total of 24 people showed up (many at 6:30 a.m.) to cut 13 loads of wood
in the hot sun on July 19. Thank you to all who gave up a good portion of
their Saturday for this worthy cause. The elders will be warmer this winter
for all your efforts. Thank you to all of the wonderful people who showed up
and worked in the hot sun to direct traffic, cut. split, and deliver wood to the
elders, including those out of the Siletz area. Our elders were very thankful!
