Summer Intern/Work Experience
Program Returns
Last year, the Siletz Tribe funded a
Summer Intern/Work Experience
Program to give college-level students an
opportunity to gain hands-on expe
rience working within tribal government.
The highly successful program
placed five students in different
departments within the tribal
organization - Accounting, Clinic
Management, the Diabetes Program,
Finance, and Clinic Operations. They
gained work experience that they could
use for their practicum and gained
working knowledge of tribal programs.
The tribe hopes that utilizing this
program will encourage more tribal
students to return to work for the tribe
after graduation.
The Tribal Council once again has
funded the Summer Intern/Work
Experience Program for tribal higher
education students. Priority will be given
to upper-level students, but any college
level student is eligible to apply.
Application forms will be mailed to
all students who utilize the tribe’s Higher
Education program. If you don’t utilize
this program or didn’t get an application
form, please contact the education
specialist in your area.
Applications are due by 4:30 p.m. on
June 13, 2003. Students selected will
begin work on July 1, 2003.
Springfield Teacher Tianna’s husband, Warner, helped the classroom by drawing a
buffalo for their bulletin board.
